encouraging to see both consoles in the top sellers! suggesting the ps3 may outsell the 360 this season, time will tell whether the predictions come true that the ps3 will overtake in sales by mid 2008!

sadly but true: triple will not outsell 360 this season...(see last year xbox360 NPD...they sold around 1.5 millions in December). THEY / WE NEED MORE EXCLUSIVE GAMES......

The ps3 will not outsell the xbox 360 soon it's too far ahead that means the ps3 would have to outsell the xbox 360 every week for a year no chance because has it might be doing well in europe and japan it isn't going to happen in n.america where the biggest market is, and it's got no chance of catching the wii, it might being doing well over this holiday period but thats expected you must try and be honest with one another, and if the ps3 ever does catch the xbox 360 in say two years time then ms would have moved on to xbox 720 fact, so we are going be left then with an out of date console fact, ms have got it all worked out.

I wasn't expecting the 80gig to surpass the 40gig but I guess I was wrong. :E either way its good no matter how you look at it.

Honestly, I don't give a damn who sells more units. As long as there are enough PS3 sold to encorage game developers to develop for it, I'll be alright. At the moment there are about 6.000.000, and that's not bad. I hope that by the end of next year, it reaches 15 mil.

I realy don't care, as long as good games come to the PS3 in the future...

The PS3 will sell several million units with the EXCLUSIVE release of Metal Gear Solid 4 next year.  It WILL stay exclusive too.  Kojima promised it would be exclusive and Konami said that they are not properly set up for porting, so since Kojima desires only the best game in MGS he would NEVER ruin a great game by porting it.  Also, and you can quote me on this, with the release of Final Fantasy XIII.... PS3 WILL take the lead in the cosole war, including the Nintendo Wii.  However, I really don't think Nintendo is a threat to 360 or PS3... the Wii is a complimentary system.  It's not in direct competition in this console war.

However, if you remember the failing PS One and how it blew the N64 up when it gained exclusivity of Final Fantasy.  Square Enix praises Blu Ray for how great XIII will be so I wouldn't hold my breath for a 360 version!!

They did not ear about the price cuts? The same model costs 499 Eur around here (Portugal). Amazon.fr will not sell much I think... I though it was supposed to be the same price all over Europe.

I'm not saying its not true but man the whole "we need more exclusive games" isn't really vaild anymore. I mean we do have them, their on their way.

 

However, I so wish sony...or someone would take some time to see why all these delays are happening. I understand they happen but this 2 to 3 weeks before game release and then "whap" delay.....is getting very old. Its hard to get pumped for an IP when you don't know if it will actually be released when they say it will.

Well the PS3 should outsell the 360. The 360 had a head start and most people aready have them. Now the Wii on the other hand is just amazing.

I find this more amazing that 2 off the ps3 both 40 and 80 made amazon top list because that means that the ps3 in general could be outselling the  360 or even the wii.  Also I think the ps3 will outsell the wii by next year due to the fact that the wii was just a fad and not really anything worth getting.  Also the ps3 targets a larger market than the wii and ps3 so i dont think outselling the 360 is going to be hard for sony.  Also the games that made playstation, playstation are not even out yet and the sale rate of the ps3 equals to the first year 360 was on the market and 360 had no competition its first year.  Only time will tell how fast the ps3 outsells the other 2 consoles.

You think having an xbox 720 out in 2 years is a good thing? I'll be p!ssed if that happens as the 360 wouldn't be that old.

 

Why update hourly? the list would constently change as a few hundred sales would effect the chart not giving a real indication of how well the consol is doing. 1 hour it could be at 15, the next at 1 and an hour later down to 56, only to find it at number 3 or whatever. They should update the chart once per day at midnight so we can see how well the daily sales are of the previous day. And at the end of the week show their weekly sales.

It's stupid how people look at the PS3 as a failure. It really blows my mind. It has sold as many consoles in its first year as the 360 WITH competition from the 360 and the Wii. Not only that but it costs MORE than a 360 and STILL sold as many. Not only that but it had to sell while the 360 dropped three bombs this year! (Bioshock, Halo 3, Mass Effect) If you compare the first year games to that of the 360 and even the Wii (which isn't really in direct competition with it) it surpasses them. What did the 360 have? Gears of War? What else? No AAA games, not even A games. The PS3 in it's first year had Motorstorm, Resistance, Heavenly Sword, Virtua Fighter, Ratchet & Clank, Uncharted, Warkawk, Eye of Judgment, and Lair. Even now there is MORE variety on the PS3 than the 360. So how is the PS3 a paper weight? F***Kevin Perreira and leeman99.

If thats the game plan that MS has then i feel sorry for the XBox360 owners. Tell me this... how would you feel that you just bought a $400 system and come to find out that 2 years time theres an even bigger better system out now for about the same price or even more if that. I would be highly pissed. I know thats not MS gameplan plus their are a lot of games being developed that may take a couple years time and to find out there would be another system in that time frame?  that would be ridiculous. The PS3 is projected to last for about 10 years time so thats saying i spent $60 towards the system buying at release for US $599 rather than $100 in FOUR YEARS!! @ price release $400. (rough est.)

 

With development cost and production cost we have came across a new era were games are not being made in a day or two. It's now taking years and by saying years im meaning for them to actually use these systems to its full potential. Or else were just going to come across same ol' gameplay with no inovation at all. I paid $600 i expect quality games to come out thats why i dont mind that these games are being delayed. I expect finshed worked not rushed work. Now do you think that developers would have plaenty of time to maximize the 360 in two years time? I dont believe so... and if so.... it proves that the Xbox 360 was never once a superior machine that it need to be upgraded evry 4 years!! Thats why i believe the 360 is so userfriendly because its not that big of an in depth machine while PS3 theres so many possibilties that the machine can do and its making it harder for developers. (Keep in mind this is just my opinion not stating that this is true, i understand that you were also stating yours just wanted to help you get a second opinion on the statment you said.)

 

@zbamf.... if they updated hourly that would be a nightmare... do you know how many retailers there are in the US let alone Globally? I work @ DHL and do numbers of packages shipped for 8 Hubs in my region and thats just the west region and I update numbers by the week and that still gives me a headache. Can you now imagine SONY, MS, AND WII. Thats why the numbers are of last month when were already in or should i say soon to be in december.
