PS3 Assassin's Creed performing well in Europe

If there is any indication that Assassin’s Creed would have made a great exclusive for the PlayStation 3, it is the latest numbers that points in this direction.

For the week ending November 18, the PlayStation 3 version of Assassin’s Creed took hold of the number one position in Spain and the number four spot in Germany in overall game sales, beating the Xbox 360 version. Furthermore, Call of Duty 4 for the PlayStation 3 rounded out in the top 10 best selling games in both Germany and Spain while the Xbox 360 version was not even on the charts.

This is capital for Sony as it proves that the PlayStation 3 brand is strong enough to handle big name games. Many companies would believe that making a title a PS3 exclusive would not generate profit, simply because the machine has sold fewer units than the Xbox 360 to date.

However, as the numbers show, both big named games like Assassin’s Creed and Call of Duty 4 on the PS3 both sold better than the Xbox 360 version in various portions of the globe.

The top 10 sales in Germany and Spain is as follows:

Germany:
1 Crysis (PC)
2 Super Mario Galaxy (Wii)
3 Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare (PC)
4 Assassin's Creed (PS3)
5 Assassin's Creed (Xbox 360)
6 Crysis Collector's Edition (PC)
7 High School Musical: Sing it (PS2)
8 WWE Smackdown vs. RAW 2008 (PS2)
9 Unreal Tournament 3 (PC)
10 Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare (PS3)

Spain:
1 Assassin's Creed (PS3)
2 WWE Smackdown vs. RAW 2008 (PS2)
3 Super Mario Galaxy (Wii)
4 Pro Evolution Soccer 2008 (PS2)
5 Assassin's Creed (Xbox 360)
6 Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare (PS3)
7 WWE Smackdown vs. RAW 2008 (PSP)
8 Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 3 (PS2)
9 Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare (PC)
10 Mas Brain Training (DS)

Ok, Assassin's Creed has sold over 1million console copies worldwide.

Does anyone know how many copies of COD4 have been sold on the console versions only?

And how many Uncharted have been sold in NA?

Anybody know the figures for these games??

Assassins CRAP more like...seriously, this game blew me away until i went back to reply part of a level...you have to start at the beginning of the level and go through EVERY cut scene (that you can't skip) instead of being able to just start at the assassination...on top of that if you choose to start a new game you lose EVERY bit of information, you have to kill all th templars again even if you have already killed 59 of them and you hav eto find all the flags again...

This is a great game but it has the reply value of a suicide bombing...

You have to remember that there are tons of 360 games coming out right now that are better than AC.  I'm playing Mass Effect on my 360, but there's not much on the PS3 that screams "buy me".  Sorry, but it's true.  I'm not sure how isolating 2 of the smaller game markets in Europe means AC should have been an eclusive.  What about the UK?

tons of 360 games on the 360????.Mass Effect is the only exclusive that is a killer app.I want to see all those your talking about.

It's funny how you think there are no games on the PS3 marauder800.

I hate how people dismiss Ratchet & Clank and Uncharted (especially uncharted) just because they aren't Halo or Gears of War. That's what the PS3 has over everyone. Variety, and good variety at that! If you tried Uncharted just for the first 20 mins you would know what I was talking about. It's a FUN game, and a joy to play, plus from what I've seen on all the systems it's the best looking game out. If all games were as fun as Uncharted then we would all never leave the house. Unreal Tournament anyone? Haze? Warhawk? Heavenly Sword? Resistance? Motorstorm?

@ marauder600 ... Uncharted, ACreed, COD4, Ratchet, nba 2k8, Warhawk, Heavenly Sword, Motorstorm, Resistance and in two weeks UT3. To say PS3 has no good games is really getting old quick. But ignorance is bliss i guess. Oh and how about a list of the tons of 360 games coming out. BTW I've played ME and it is just KOTOR - Star Wars. Which IMO = zzzzzz...

LOL I love how you fanboys jump on anyone that mentions the 360.  I didn't say there weren't games, I said there are no games that scream "buy me".  Unreal? Haze? You're playing those? I buy my shooters on the 360 exclusively because the controller and Xbox Live lend themselves to these types of games.  Warhawk is good, but you can keep Ratchet and Clank (I'm over 12), Heavenly Sword and Motorstorm.

Back on topic...The point was the gaming Meccas of Spain and Germany are hardly a barometer of anything relevant and 360 gamers have bigger titles to play than Assassin's Creed.  If AC on PS3 outsold the 360 version in the UK and North America, that's something to talk about.

Hey marauder800, if you love your precious 360 so damn much, then that's great. Now get the phuk outta psu, what do you care about PS3 anyway?  Perhaps you just know that you've wasted your money on junk...congrats idiot!

@marauder600... your not buying PS3 shooters because of the controllers. wow imo thats pretty weak. and your skipping out on ratchet because in your opinion you have to be 12 to enjoy it. imo thats pretty lame. and what are these great 360 titles you keep talking about? also i would consider germany relevant since it has a larger population than the uk. spain is pretty close to the uk's population numbers too so they should be considered relevant as well.

@marauder is a complete  idiot. I'm sorry. I'm not being a fanboy here, but it's even becoming known to the Xbots. You guys are shlt outta games now, buddy, you ran dry on your exclusives. (The few that it may be) Mass Effect, Bioshock, Halo 3, and Gears of War. That sums it up guys. You buy a 360, that's what you expect to get, nothing more. Now, with 2008 coming up, you're going up against possibly the best lineup of games to ever hit the market and you have absolutely nothing left. (if you want a list of all the killer apps, I'll definately give it to ya.)

I can give you at least 3 killer exclusives for every "must have" you claim is on the 360. MGS4 alone holds it's own weight against those 4.

I agree that there not many titles for the ps3 so that might be one reason that  theys games ps3 owners are buying these games.

The Xbox 360 version of the game claims 67 per cent of sales, with the PlayStation 3 version taking the remaining 33 per cent. It also becomes the third fastest-selling Xbox 360 game within a weekly sales period.

ps3 owners try to grab anything out of context to make there console feel like its doing well.

360 owners constantly flock to ps3 sites to defend their 360's giving themselves a false sense of hope and security that their console will last forever when, in fact, nothing ever does. its time to face the music 360 owners, your system will die, its a guarantee. like johnny cash said, "it burns burns burns, that ring of fire, the ring of fire"
