GTA IV is Time Magazine's Game of the Year

Time Magazine officially released their top 10 video games of 2008. While it's surprising to not see any exclusive Nintendo Wii titles, it's not surprising to see PlayStation 3 related to half of the list.
We may not agree with Grand Theft Auto IV being the top ranked game, though it is arguably deserving. However, we're completely outraged by the fact that Metal Gear Solid 4 isn't even considered one of the top ten titles overall.

We're beside ourselves in confusion with this list. Star Wars: The Force Unleashed? Seriously? Over a top-tier title like Metal Gear Solid 4?
We're going to turn to our readers on this one. Do you think this does a great injustice to Kojima's masterpiece or is the list justified?

its disgracful that the best PS3 exclusive Metal Gear Solid 4 isnt even in the top 10 and is probably the best game out on PS3 and any stupid 36* fanboy can admit that they would want any mgs title on the 36* what an insult to Kojima !

This is why Media such as Time magazine should not be allowed to give a top 10 Vide Game list. They know nothing about games and it shows with this list. I don't see MGS4, I see an Iphone game, I see spore...which was a flop IMO, rock band 2? Seriously, this is just Rock band with new songs, A FREE FLASH GAME?! REALLY A FREE FLASH GAME IS BETTER THEN MGS4!!?? This is a slap to gamers no matter what console you play.

Once i read Braid (which i have never even heard of), StarwarsFU, and FieldRunners (for the IPHONE!!!) this list lost ALL credidbility in "Game of the Year" opinions, like someone said before, its based entirely on sales..........

lmao what a joke GTA4 was a MAJOR DISSAPOINTMENT but the publications that no NOTHING about video games are gonna say it's the best thing out there just because you here alot of talk about it, GTA 4 is a prime example of a game getting praised just because of the hype alone

Well seriously what does Time know about games? they put a freaking iphone and a Flash game on there. They put GTA as number one because of how many magazines it sold for them in regards to video game violence stories.
I just saw a video for braid today for the first time after reading this... WOW it's a Mario Rip off!

mgs4 was rubbish, i'm a big sony/ps3 fan but come on, it sucked. kojima has never topped the first intallment on the ps1, now that is perfection! the new metal gear has like 2 hours of gameplay and a very confusing storyline that looked like it was gonna be good after the first game. i agree this list is poor, i've never even heard of braid, hunted forever or fieldrunners. but we gotta face up that mgs4 wasn't all that, resistance 2 should be in there, but gtaiv is the worthy winner. just count yourselves lucky they haven't licked microsofts bumhole with this list like everyone else seems to be doing

What is this word coming to? When you have a panel of people who probably do not even play games pick the games of the year there is certainly going to be a problem. I am glad LittleBigPlanet made it, but no MGS4! I do not care what anyone says; MGS4 should have been Game of the Year. It certainly has my vote. While GTA4 was good; it was not, by any means, necessarily innovative; besides the fact that they added a multiplayer component. The story was so unfulfilling as well. Again, this is what happens when people who have no clue give their misinformed opinions. Do not let this list bother you; it"s not worth it.

Time magazine is always full of inconsistencies and is constantly misleading its readers. I just hope that Better Homes and Gardens has a more accurate top 10 video game list this year.

I got a lot more enjoyment out of Fallout 3 and even COD5 than GTAIV! Time is a magazine run by people that have probably never even picked up a video game controller. LOL, an iPhone game. Yeah, and WTF is Braid? Even though it's for 360, if it came in #2, PS3 owners would know what it was. Like if they gave Fable 2 the #2 slot, we all know what that is. OMG, I just looked it up. How the funk did this even end up on the list? Are they retarded? Did somebody hack into Time's computers and funk with list? It's either that, or they were paid off. Probably though, they didn't know what they were talking about and somebody got the asignment for the list and just did a Google search for video games and cut and pasted what showed up.

LOL... let's list... No MGS4? No Fable II (I know it's a x360 game, but its way better than Force Unleashed)? No Fallout3? No Resistance2? No NHL 09?
Man... I can list at least 10 games better than half of the ones on this "top 10".
