According to Media Create projections, the PlayStation 3 turned in a solid performance in Japanese software charts last week (ending November 9), with Grand Theft Auto IV, Gran Turismo 5 Prologue Spec III and LittleBigPlanet all muscling into top ten positions.
The DS took the lion's share though, dominating the top four with a combination of fat platforming pinkness, rhythm-bashing, Pokemon-collecting and accessorising. PlayStation Portable hit Monster Hunter Portable 2G (recently confirmed as Capcom's best-selling game ever) hung on grimly at number seven.
Neither the Wii nor the Xbox 360 got a look-in. Here's the full top ten (including sales to date):
01. Hoshi no Kirby: Ultra Super Deluxe (DS) 266,000 / NEW
02. Rhythm Tengoku Gold (DS) 40,000 / 1,129,000
03. Wagamama Fashion Girls Mode (DS) 37,000 / 154,000
04. Pokémon Platinum (DS) 37,000 / 1,890,000
05. Grand Theft Auto IV (PS3) 36,000 / 169,000

05. Grand Theft Auto IV (PS3) 36,000 / (169,000 =sales to date?)
10. LittleBigPlanet (PS3) 17,000 / (69,000= sales to date?)
Is it just me or is LBP doing great considering the relative period on sale?
Lets not forget that LBP is the 1st real and fully casual game on the PS3 so PS3 owners would likely be a massive majority of experienced gamers. Not to mention that these figures take account of stand-alone games only. It would be interesting to see if the PS3/LBP bundle made a difference in PS3's sales.
Christmas is the time this game will sky-rocket IMO.
This is the perfect casual gamers Christmas present IMO.

LBP is going to do fine, there's just very litter adverts of it, once word of mouth spread about how great this title it'll pick up. plus GTA is a proven IP, GeOW is a proven IP, each one already have millions of followers so, LBP is just starting to collect it's own followers.

For Japan: just stick the words "super duper terrific happy happy" before a title name to guarantee maximum sales.

I think we're all suffering from too many games at one time. some games have to take aback seat to others. GTA has been out for us for ever, so we dont care, The japanese are JUST getting it and they've had like a year's worth of hype waiting for it. What Sony needs to do is hit the people who bought GTA with a marketing campaign a few months from now reminding them what a kicks ssa game LBP is.
