Grand Theft Auto IV unsurprisingly sits at the top of the pile for worldwide sales in 2008, shifting a whopping 6.29 million copies since the beginning of the year.

Over 1.5 million of those were in the UK alone, but no breakdown was given in terms of a 360/PS3 split. Super Smash Bros Brawl for the Wii sits in second place on 5.43 million units, Mario Kart is in third with 4.7 million, Wii Fit takes fourth with 3.6 million, and GHIII managing an outstanding 3.48 million sales.

The reports were culled from leading analysts such as Chart Track in the UK, Enterbrain in Japan, GFK in Europe and NPD in the US, representing the most accurate forecast of global sales available.
