Bionic Commando sells just 27,000 copies in the U.S.

The research firm the NPD group recently announced that Capcom's Bionic Commando sold a mere 27,000 copies in the U.S. between its release date, May 19, 2009, and the conclusion of the month. NPD said that it could not disclose how many copies sold were for the PlayStation 3, but only that the 27,000 figure applies to sales across both platforms.
It's a remarkable disappointment for two reasons: the first and most obvious is that Bionic Commando is a famous Capcom franchise. The second reason is that Bionic Commando was developed by Grin, the same company that brought the brilliant Bionic Commando Rearmed to the PlayStation Network. Bionic Command Rearmed sold 130,000 copies in its first week. Yes, it was less expensive because it was a downloadable title, but still, it was anticipated that Bionic Commando would topple last year's downloadable remake.
Here at PSU, we didn't award Bionic Commando as high a rating as we did Bionic Commando Rearmed, but it's an excellent game nonetheless. It really is surprising to see this most recent version of Bionic Commando sell so poorly. Better luck next time, Grin and Capcom.

I only skipped it because you guys said:
"The deceptively small size of the game world."
I am not spending money on deception. -

@7
Their balls weren't just kicked, they were viciously ripped off and curb stomped into the asphalt.
Even I'm cringing from that...

Once it's priced between $25-$30, I'll buy it. That's what they get for lying to PS3 fans all the damn time! Good for them ha hah ha ha! Capcom is full of crap anyways, making people pay to unlock hidden items on the official game disc. Here's to hoping they get the same outcome on their next game.

i think them delaying it and not giving people updates on the game regularly is what killed the sales.

sucks, but the new one is so completely different than Rearmed or the original. It's not as much about quick precision or puzzle solving what areas you want to go through next. Also the lack of comic humor and instead using cut scenes with voice work just isn't as corny and fun.
If it ain't broke, don't fix it. Rearmed was nearly perfect and so well done. I still hope they do sequels/prequels of it instead of the new 3D version

You know what that's what they get, out of all the stuff they could have made like omnimusha, dino crisis, breath of fire, and dark stalkers just to name a few, what they do "BIONIC COMMANDO we choose you". I swear if companys would simply listen to the gamers instead of trying to shove stuff down our throats *cough* *cough* Natal *cough* playstation home with no tvs *cough* it would be a win win situation. square instanly comes to mind "lets make everything but ff7 remake and lets make it 360 exclusive" then in the same sentence "why are we in financial turmoil". "I'm no hero ........ never was , I'm just an old hater hired to do some wet work"

Haven't bought any games from Crapcom since DMC4 went multiplat, I signed that petition and I'm glad to see them doing badly.

ouch, but it was released when tons of other hot games came out, and in these hard times, we can't buy everything. So I like most it seems, skiped it.

It was widely panned in the early Beta reviews. I think that scared buyers. I heared it had a terrible cliffhanger plot twist ending as well. Its a shame, Rearmed is such a great game. Perhaps the next one will be 2D (one can only wish)

I just rented it from Gamefly, it's really not a bad game, just a victim of better competition I guess. I really loved rearmed.

wtf is wrong with you people, quit reading reviews!! This is a great game (better then re-armed and I own both) the story is just as long as any other game this generation, and the levels are bigger then its review here suggests. they make the levels seem tiny, when really their just as big as any other linnier game. as for the story, who really gives a fark when the game play is so much fun. this game is extremely fun (especially the multiplayer). I believe it only had poor sales do to being released near so many other great games. once the uncharted 2 beta is over I am totally going back to BC online, gotta have something fun to do while their is a period of 4 months with nothing good coming out.

ha that will teach them some lessons
havent bought any game from Capcom since DMC 4, I dont like their way running business. Rip off fans from SF4 and RE5, which they know ppl will pay for it with no matter what price. I know one person boycott their game is nothing, but to me its showing them that I have no respect of their games at all, even if the game is good i wouldn't pay for it. I wouldn't even care when DR2 or LP2 comes out, cause I am sure they going find a way to rip consumers off, maybe install game on PS3 cost 10 bucks to do that.

Exactly. I own the game and it does deserve more credit then what it has earned for what the programmers of the game accomplished. Granted not flawless but still overall a great game.
