Quantic Dream’s David Cage has expressed his delight over the reaction to Heavy Rain across the web, observing that many gamers have commented on forums that the hotly anticipated thriller has convinced them to invest in a PlayStation 3.
Speaking to the chaps at IGN, Cage commented, “This experience should be available exclusively on PlayStation 3, and we want people to buy a PlayStation 3 because of Heavy Rain.”
“We’re really happy at the moment – and I hope it’s going to last – that when we go onto forums we find people watching the trailers and stuff and saying ‘this is the game that’s going to make me buy a PlayStation 3′.”
Heavy Rain is scheduled for release exclusively on PS3 in early 2010. We’ll have more on the game as it breaks.

If they can give an actual release date for Heavy Rain then it COULD ACTUALLY SELL PS3's....

I can see this being an incredible game but being critisized for being too different in reviews, which in turn will hurt sales. I really hope this lives up to the hype though

..yeah. This along with The Last Guardian. I know a few people who roll their eyes when I go on about the graphics in Killzone 2, or immersion in WipeoutHD, GT5, and so on. And then say that they'd much rather wait and see what Ueda will do on the ps3, or see how Heavy Rain shapes up, before buying a ps3.

Wow. He's kind of full of himself, isn't he? Granted, I appreciate/respect their attempt to try to make an innovative game (and hopefully not just one long interactive cut scene) but really, I have no interest in this game and there's a lot of other exclusive games like MGS4 and LBP which really showcases what the PS3 can do. I'm sure this game might be graphically impressive, but the story and the idea just seem kind of dull to me honestly. Who knows......

This game looked awesome FOREVER ago, when they first showed it off. Now 2 and a half years later, Im not that impressed. I was amped for Quake 3 when it was first coming out too, but now my cellphone produces better games. I dont need emotion in a video game, I just want sweet graphics and to blow stuff up. I think the emotion thing is an excuse for crappy game play, My guess is that this game will flop about as bad as Afrika has. Everytime a devoloper says (totally new type of game) or uses statements like (not really a game and more of an experience), I hear, (this took a long time to make but isnt really any fun) BTW Uncharted 2 may be the coolest video game ever made.

yeah, i'll get it just because it looks great so far, although the initial video released years back looked so realistic, the gameplay videos seem a lil..meeh...I'm not too sure if it'll be a big ps3 mover, unless they really aim for the older folks or the investigative/suspense movie-goers
BTW: psu, why is it then when i log in, when i type my password the default black dots dont dissapear and i have to erase it myself b4 typing in my pswd?

You guys must have posted comments from Naughty Dog. Uncharted 2 will move systems. We'll have to wait and see about Heavy Rain.

People say a lot of stupid stuff on forums and boards as is evident on here all the time. What people will say about Heavy Rain and do are two different things. I highly doubt there are many outside of hardcore gamers who even know about this game.
This game will be most likely be on par with a title like "Ico". A brilliant, engaging, artistic experience that will not sell well, let alone be a system seller.

Day one purchase .... Loved indigo prophecy. Felt like I was really playing a movie ... Isn't that what games are SUPPOSED to make you think. Well some games anyway....

Did I just hear "artistic experience?" . I must be old school, cuz thats what museums and the symphony are for. I dont really care if it can simulate rain or make me cry, I want a fun to play game, and they have never even claimed this game to be fun. If these guys want to make Artistic Experiences, I suggest they hook up with Indie Films or go to the Sundance Film festival. I guess Im just bummed that such great technology gets wasted on "telling a gripping story, that will take you on an emotional roller coaster", hahaha kind of sounds like an epsiode of Oprah.
Game are supposed to make you think, they are supposed to make you think, "dude, that explosion or kill move was awesome" or "I think that was the most fun Ive ever had" not " I feel so bad for the polygon chick and her problems I think Im gunna cry"

@34
Actually I don't think anyone has said that, U1 and U2 are great games but they don't have the popularity of really big titles like GT5 or MGS4.
Im not expecting this game to sell alot of PS3's to people.

@40 i agree with what you say most of the people i know with 360s are only really intrested in Grand Turismo 5,Killzone And A Fair Few Like the Look Of Resistance..
At The Moment I Dont Think PS3 Has A System Seller! Xbox Got Gears Of War,Halo,Forza,L4D and PGR
But Hopefully Next Year We Can Change That with Grand Turismo 5,God Of War 3 And Maybe Heavy Rain
But Uncharted 2 Still the Best Game This Generation Lol
