Cage: Heavy Rain not possible on Xbox 360

Quantic Dreams’ David Cage has declared that PlayStation 3 exclusive thriller Heavy Rain would be “too difficult” to replicate on Xbox 360.
Speaking to NowGamer, Cage explained, “I think this game can only be done on PlayStation 3,” adding, “We used all the SPUs, [and] I think to do the visuals, and all the stuff we’re doing would be too difficult [on the 360].”
Apparently, the game’s elaborate physics and crowd-related shenanigans are too much for Microsoft’s white box to handle, said Cage. “There are amazing physics there, and stuff with crowds that you just couldn’t really get.”
Can’t say we’re all that surprised, given that Heavy Rain is one of the PS3’s technical highlights for the 2009 line-up. The game’s out later this year.

They would need two 360s to run Heavy Rain :)

That is because Sony obviously have the rights for this game, and also it's plain PR-Talk. Gears of War is also not possible on PS3...just a matter of publishing rights.

When are we ever going to see a game that comes out on both consoles, but looks crappy on the xbox360??? I want proof instead of all this "here is an exclusive which is only coming out for PS3 anyway, but if it werent we couldnt do it " bullcrap.

Well, yeah... obviously.
Anyone who isn't quite sure how much more powerful the PS3 is over the 360, please consider this.
Wipeout HD and Burnout Paradise have both run in full 3D on the PS3. That means a doubling of the refresh rate and essentially rendering the entire game twice.
In my opinion, the PS3 is sooooo being sandbagged right now.

# 12 the reason that the PS3 is crapier in multiplatform games is that the companies try to make the game the same for both consoles. The ps3 is better so they are making the game that he will fit 360 (because its crapier) and then the result is that they worked on the game more on the 360 and less on the ps3...you can see the difference between the exlusives KZ2 - GOW2 HEAVY RAIN beats everything in graphics...so there is your answer....by the way wait for FINEL FANTESY XIII...YOU WILL SEE THE DIFFERECE THERE!!!!

Shouldn't this be an article to post on a 360 site....letting them know why they are not getting the game?

Comments like this makes me wonder, if a game like Heavy Rain is impossible on 360, how are they gna port over MGS4! the rumors are circling around at the minute about MGS4+Oxide and as much as i don't want to believe it, i think there is a distinct possibility that it could be true, but when David Cage says this it just makes me confused to the whole situation, i don't want MGS4 to go to 360, they'll ruin it!!!

Hahaha, don't believe the lies, there will never be a MGS4 360 port, I'd bet my life on it anyday.

@16 I don't know about that explanation, cause it would work in reverse too. And periodicals like gameinformer almost always give the edge to xbox360 versions. Plus, i used to play rainbow six on the PS2, and my brother's xbox version was a 1000 times better. SO your argument doesn't convince me. I want side by side proof.

@33 you do understand that from a technical point the xbox is more powerful than the PS2, right? That example doesn't make sense. Certain games run better on certain systems because of the developers and tech involved individually across projects. Think about the people who botched the Orange Box port for the PS3, do you think it's impossible for the PS3 to run that properly? I used to have Oblivion on 360 before it RRODed on me and now I have it on PS3 and the game runs way better. Just depends on what individual game you are talking about.
I'm sure there are games on PS3 that won't run properly on the 360, form a technical standpoint the PS3 is more powerful than the 360 and thereby has the potential to accomplish more, it really depends on how well (and much) each developer utilizes the tools.

people say that graphics and phsycis dont matter as long as you have good gameplay, well actually... NO. i dont want a play a game with great gameplay and ps1 graphics. its about the both.
generally every game with good graphics has good gameplay (not that one has to do anything with the other)

@12 They have found that when the multi plat is lead on 360 it does not port well to the ps3, but when lead on ps3, or made seperately on both consoles things port smoothly. Sometimes even better on ps3. For example Devil May Cry 4, and Burnout Paradise, Call of Duty 4. Now exclusives are obviously not possible on 360 due to the fact PS3 has the cell, and 1st party devs utilize the cell (unlike 3rd party multi plat games). They have not even scratched the surface of the cell broadband engine from what I understand. Anyways 3rd party is just perks now a days what matters are your exclusives, and Sony wins that battle everytime.
I am excited for this game, but right now I have my sights on Uncharted 2, God of War 3, and Gran Turismo 5. I love Sony.

i dont need proof to know the ps3 is stronger then xbox 360. Only the 360 fanboys that keep denying it. And what about this game? how does it play? like a movie, nothing but quick time events? I wanna be able to control my character, not push a button and have it animated for me. Let me tell you some good games im looking foward too.
Uncharted 2
God of War 3
inFamous

This dissapoints me, but still. Can't people just stop whining about which is better.
Everyones gonna have a different idea which one is better and why.
For me, it's that the 360 is cheaper than the PS3, And I like the controller better for the 360. But on the PS3 I look forward to only a few exclusives that aren't even out yet, like The Last Guardian or this. I don't really give a damn about graphics, I still play ancient games like Doom, Deus Ex or Wolfenstein, If I showed one of those games to one of my friends, they'd be like "how can you play that, it's crap". But to me it's not, because I don't care about graphics :0 And my opinion is different. :000

Promising premise, and at last a good reason to consider a discounted PS3. But gotta say the facial characteristics in the trailer are awful. If that's convincing to you you must have a weird looking family. Also quite amusing that every dual console release the xbox version gets the nod for graphics and gameplay. The Archimedes computer was far more powerful than the 64/Amiga but developers will go to the better implemented platform and consumers will go for the price, the titles, the community and the

if you check the gamesspot's playstation vs xbox graphichs comparisons you will see that in almost every one xbox graphics are more detailed, better, cleaner and commented negativly for playstation. so dont say that xbox cant handle this and this is all publishing matters. like grand turismo

just another BS response from developers trying to make the PS3 look better then it is. If they had really wanted Heavy Rain to be on the Xbox 360, then they would have had it developed multi-platform. That simple, case closed. Looks like there is going to be another PS3 title I won\'t be missing.

I f it weren't for the fanboys giving their worthless two cents i'd whole heartedly agree that the ps3 is a fine machine, much better then the 360 in a lot of ways. But i love my 360, and it makes me mad that exclusives like little big planet and heavy rain cant find their way to the 360. also we shared one our exclusives with you guys, BIOSHOCK.. yea. its like that. I dont give 1/10th of a flying Funk about graphics. I would play the most pixelated piece of crud with glee, listening to you pretentious ps3 owners makes me sick. Play for fun or sit the heck down.
