Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 out this year, already "looking incredible"

The next 'Modern Warfare' entry in the Call of Duty series will be arriving this year, Activision CFO Thomas Tippl confidently revealed at the annual Wedbush Morgan Securities meeting. Additionally, Modern Warfare 2 is already "looking incredible," he said.
"Last year we had probably beaten most expert expectations by growing the Call of Duty franchise over the tremendous success that was the first iteration of Modern Warfare," stated Tippl. "For 2009, Modern Warfare is coming back, we expect it will be the most anticipated game of the year. Perhaps the number one game of the year despite the fact that it's only going to launch in the holiday season.
"There is no doubt in my mind that it will again raise the bar for the shooter genre," he continued. "The game is looking incredible and Infinity Ward, the studio that is developing it, is just doing an unbelievable job."
Usually, when the industry bigwigs hype games up and call their company's titles "incredible," they're just helping out the marketing team. While that's undoubtedly the case here, we're inclined to believe Tippl's praise given the high quality of Call of Duty 4.
With the GDC 2009 just around the corner, don't expect Modern Warfare 2 to be shrouded in mystery for too much longer.

I am not a fan of Wold at War but of Modern Warfare I have been waiting for this one.

Can't w8 :) I doubt technically it'll be better then a game like KZ2 but cod4 was the funnest game i ever played it kept me busy for months.

COD4 was fun, but COD:MW2 will be GOTY? No, KZ2 has a better shot. Most anticipated game of the year? Nope, once again, I'm pretty sure there was much more anticipation for KZ2. Raise the bar? Maybe, we'll have to wait and see. KZ2 raised it pretty high with it's much more varied and in-depth online experience. Having little emblems next to your name such as a gold cross isn't varied or in-depth, infinity ward. It's lame.

cool still not buying it, they had absolutely no support for the first one, so i will not be buying the second, besides it sounds like the exact same game, and i guarranty it will not look as good as Killzone, as the 360 will most likely be the lead platform, and they have not spent the same amount of time on it.

Do not want more FPS!
Where are all the RPGs and adventure games. I would even take another GTA over a damn FPS. Maybe a nice reworking of San Andreas with gangs, properties, and planes.
Hate FPS now excluding KZ2

no thanx for now.. Killzone 2 still powns MW2 even though i know nothing about it lol.
and COD4 wasnt that great,only for a little bit then got boring ,and the prestige thing was unrewarding and retarted... and the worst part is the lack of support from the DEV team infinity ward.. i mean c'mon ONE map pack? thats it? in one year all we get is a map pack for a $10 witch should of ben 5 or $6 really.
i never said i didnt like COD4 but it was only fun for a limited time only.

couldn't be asked with KZ2, even the online play seemed fun for a little while ( I majorly got turned off by its control, and no, i enjoy gaming not "learning" how to adapt to a game without a good reason), neither can i be bothered with COD WaW either... blooody WWII
On the other hand, yes, I'll be eagerly anticipating the next MW instalment...
I bet they'll make COD7 a WWI / WWII so they can split the gamers into 2 huge groups, and obviously some hardcore fans to overlap, making ordinary boy like me purchase bi annually, and happy about the quality and longevity of online play, 2 years for a shooter? sounds just abour right to me

Of course it will be incredible. The first was and they can only make it better. Hopefully. Some things could ruin it.
I thought we all knew it was coming this year. I guess it was just rumored but now is confirmed. Can't wait to get it.

call of duty 4 sucks :S nice looking yeah, but it has only one other apealing aspect, online ranking system, other than that i cant se why every one loves it so much. i dont see what the big deal is

They're not in different genre's. They're both still FPS's. When video game award time comes around, is it split between modern fps's and sci-fi fps's? No. And KZ2 isn't that sci-fi. The guns are pretty much modeled after current weapons. It's a pretty down to earth game. And no I won't be getting it unless it brings something new to the table, which I doubt it will. IW now has a formula and they'll pretty much stick to it.

It will look incredible on PC. I dont know that seems to be the trend. But if they do a better job than killzone on the visuals department for both xbox and playstation then i will give them props. mad props.

good for them. im still played KZ2. KZ2 is still better than COD4 because of graphic. COD MW2 is better than KZ2?? we ll wait and see until Nov 2009!

We'll see if it raises the bar... The story-mode needs to be very long tho... FPS always has the shortest story modes of all games, maybe they can raise the bar in that department.

Am I the only one here who thinks RSV2 is still the best shooter online? Terrorist Hunt in realistic with a couple of friends? Team deathmatch? COD4,KZ2 are just skins for Halo,big mess with every one running around for xp,no strategy involved,no mic involved,no skill involved and no cover system! I mean,at least,in RSV2 you can wear pink trousers,a yellow hat and put a silencer on your AK!

Day one buy for me, MW was a great game, superb fun and above all they never fail to include 4 way splitscreen which gives me and 3 other friends the most fun you can have with a joypad, doubt it will be as pleasing on the eye as KZ2 but hey the gameplay, controlls and multiplayer options available make it GREAT

i said it b4 and ill say it again..........KZ2 is overrated (extremely) my copy is still collecting dust, only because it feels like im holding and trying to turn with an 18 weeler in my hands.

killzone 2 is very overated, the graphics are amazing on a side note. where codmw2 is considered it should wipe every other game out of the market when it arrives. cod4 was the only game tht could justify all the hype around it. its simply amazing

No buy for me unless the connection issues are sorted. Both COD's were terrible, more WAW but either way I am not wasting my money on a game that doesn't get support and will have major issues online.
Will be waiting for the reviews on this one.
