Activision has revealed that 1940s shooter Call of Duty: World at War has eclipsed the 11 million sales mark following its launch in November 2008.

The milestone comes following the launch of the game’s second map pack for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions of the critically acclaimed FPS. The original map pack has already sold over two million copies.

Developer Treyarch commented: "These outstanding feats would have never been possible without the continued dedication and support from all of the loyal Call of Duty fans.”

"For that, we at Treyarch and Activision would like to extend our sincerest 'thank you'. We're honoured and humbled to have one of the greatest online communities in videogame history behind our products."

Wish the Nazi Zombie add on was a stand alone game. It would get rid the bitter taste of not getting L4D2

I was personally disappointed by the first map pack and the entire game in general.  I thought that modern warfare was much better so I will not be getting the second map pack for this game.

And Activision want MW2 to sell this much in 2 months? Good luck.

shame the game was pants and not properly finished. bad disconnections/lag/host ends game meant MP was a complete nightmare. If you compare that with KZ2, you have no choice but to bin WAW, which is what I did.

bring back the tanks in hardcore teamdeathmatch.

I hope your next call of duty game uses the same game engine as World at War but brings back the vehicles you used in call of duty 3 (the motorcycle, the jeep, and the tank).

The World at War game engine with those vehicles is the perfect combination.

Hardcore mode gameplay is the best thing ever.

    @#3 - MW2 will sell 11 million in 2 months no problem.

It'll be game of the year for sure.

    Long live Infinity Ward.

@1 get L4D 1 + 2 on PC, its 100x better than the 360 version anyway (in terms of mods, maps and communtiy - imo steam still beats the crap outta psn and live)

How about giving away some free mappacks then or at least halfing the price, if you're really as thankful as you say you are.

@3: They're just setting themself up to fail. It's embarassing that they make such big-headed claims.

@8: How can you be so stupid as to think that, 11 million in a year will be difficult, 2 years iw a possibility. but 2 months... impossible.

I liked World at War's single player better than Modern Warfare's.

I'd like a free map pack!

I found my copy for PS3 at a pawn shop for $15. I couldn't pass that up.

All that selling and nothing free. Selfish *****es. Would it seriously hurt to give a free map? Guess so. It's not like the continuing games will be that great. They will be using the same engine so putting less work as they go on this gen.
