We're sure a lot of you were concerned that EA's new boxing title, Facebreaker, was going to take over their entire boxing division leaving those of you that are fans of the Fight Night series in the cold. Well, as of today, that is no longer a concern for gamers around the world who enjoy the Fight Night series as EA Sports has officially announced Fight Night Round 4. The title is expecting a 2009 release right now and anybody who has taken the time to enjoy a Fight Night game can tell you that they're great boxing experiences. Below is a portion of the press release set out today in order to describe the upcoming title.

Featuring a re-written gameplay engine, EA SPORTS Fight Night Round 4 will add a variety of fighting styles and boxer differentiation to authentically emulate the greatest fighters of all time. Pressure your opponent with the brawling inside style of young Mike Tyson, bobbing and weaving to set up powerful hooks and uppercuts. Capitalize on Muhammad Ali’s reach, hand speed and fleetness of foot to bewilder your opponent with lightning fast jabs and straights from the outside. For the first time in history, EA SPORTS Fight Night Round 4 gives you the opportunity to pit these legendary heavyweights against one another and name a true champ.

No fight will be the same with an all-new physics-based animation system that recreates the full spectrum of true-to-life punch impacts, giving boxers a devastating arsenal of punches, blocks and ring movement. The new physics system allows for missed punches, glancing punches, knockout blows and for the first time ever, rough and tumble inside fighting. Fatigue, adrenaline, footwork and timing all come into play as you hammer away at your opponents.

We're very excited to find out how they'll implement the ability to make every fight unique to itself and we can't wait to test this product out down the road. For those of you also concerned about the "new cover, same game" approach, take a seat in the back as the Fight Night series has always been known to deliver the knockout punch worth paying for.

i think this is one of the better titles that EA offeres and probably because they dont release a yearly version which gives them more time to polish and think of new ideas for the game

I have to agree that the Fight Night series is one of EA Sports better titles.  I just hope that they have a career mode where I'm not forced to fight the same "rival" seven times in a career.  Besides, rivals usually aren't the easiest to defeat, like my rival got knocked out by me everytime, and none of the matches were close at any point.  Not much of a rivalry.  Anyway, enough ranting...I am looking forward to this game!

Just like the first poster said, this is one of EA's better franchises. Fight Night 2004 was the first console game of my own that I played online. Round 2 and Round 3 were both good, so if this is as good or better, I might buy it.

Too bad the same can't be said about other EA Sports games.

    Awesome!

But I hate when PR says "No two ____ will be the same, thanks to physics based animation." The variations that physics produces is unnoticable most of the time. And any variations caused are only slight.
