EGM: Sony Liverpool working on "stunning" PS3 game

According to the latest issue of US publication Electronic Gaming Monthly, Sony’s Liverpool Studio is currently in the process of working on a “stunning” new title for the PlayStation 3.

Details are sketchy at best, although the issue states that the new project will be an action-based game called The Protector. The studio is probably best known for its work on the WipEout series.

Elsewhere, the magazine claims that the PlayStation Home beta will be coming in spring 2008.

Sadly that’s all the information we have to go on at the time, though you can be sure we’ll keep you updated with any further developments as soon as we get them.

    with all the good work they did on the wipeout series I can only expect the best from them!

    If it's from the guys that brought Wipeout then perhaps it's a futuristic type of game?

    Solid_ squirrel. This is also the same studio that done the getaway and f1 hands. They weren't futuristic!

    I tell you what, Sony's first party stuff is getting to a quality standard like Nintendo's.  I actually look forward to their in-house stuff now.  They are single-handedly keeping the PS3 afloat while other developers get their heads out of their booties.

    protector huh it's sounds like transporter the movie( because you know the driver protects and saves so good) the if name only Protector then gameplay hour how long will be 8 Days will beat this (just kidding) hope seen more details soon kk

    I love how EGM keeps everything vague and thus, never wrong.  Why don't they say within the next 2 months?  Because they're stupid.

    interesting. i loved wiipeout on the ps1 and on my psp can't wait to find out more about this game. i thought home would be released in spring??? now its the beta in spring!!!

    I love Sony's first party games. I'm sick and tired of Nintendo's recycled characters, albeit they never get old, but come on!  Don't even get me started with the 360, they don't believe in characters, they just make shooters.

    I loved Wipeout, it was like the only PSone racer that worked well with steering wheel.

    No SCE studios Soho made The Getaway, SCE liverpool once Psygnosis made WipeOut  and F1 but also a bunch of other games like g-police, Destruction Derby, Colony Wars, Discworld, Lemmings, Roll Cage, Microcosm and many many others.

    Ah, let me guess.... this game will be a shooter? Well, we don't know if this game will be a shooter or not, but something is leading me to believe that it will be. I'm going to go on strike in 2009 and I'm not going to buy a shooter unless it's a PS3 exclusive.

    I hope HOME makes it here before summer. An action title from the wipeout devs sounds great!
