US videogame publication Electronic Gaming Monthly has ignited rumours on a possible sequel to Guitar Hero III featuring popular Irish rock band, U2.
According to the Rumor Mill section of the magazine, two new Guitar Hero sequels are currently in development, in addition to the upcoming Guitar Hero IV. Furthermore, the report also hints at the appearance of a popular rock band in one of the games, which may or may not be U2.
The article itself reads:
“We already know Guitar Hero IV is on its way, but I'm hearing two more Guitar Hero titles are also in the works, bringing Guitar Hero III's sequel count to four. And one may star a group that rocks in mysterious ways.”
Internet websites have widely speculated that the ‘mysterious ways’ comment is a direct reference to the U2 song of the same name, which appeared on the highly successful 1991 album, Achtung Baby.
Activision have yet to issue any comment on the matter.
Stay tuned for more developments as they break.

Guys, chill with all the sequels. People just dropped $100 for GH3 and now you're releasing more games? How about just support it with DLC and/or expansion discs (for those without net access)for a while? I'm still waiting on GH3 controller to work with RB...

how bout before you release sequels that will basicly be the same game, 1 make the guitar periph, buyable without having to buy another copy of the game, and 2 just make the new songs downloadable, itll save you a bunch of ca$h ps u2 blows

HHHmmmm I would never buy this game as its just not my cuppa tea (a: im not 8 years old and b: i dont want to look a total idiot like Bill Gates did at CES 2008) if i wanted to play the guitar I would learn to play the real thing.
Oh and U2 suck (where the streets have no name....YYAAWWWNNN)

okay this has began to go too far, I could never get into these games and never was a fan. it's starting to be like DDR all over again they need to put more new features in the next installment instead of creating updated songs and calling it Guitar hero 4

Harmonix business model is much better so far. You buy the game and then any extra songs you want. Unlike having to buy a completely new game like activision is planning. RB>>GH

Rock band rules. Bono (while true he does good for the world) is a stinking god da*n hippie nonetheless. I hereby boycott the GH sequel, based solely because Rock Band is so much better, and I hate Bono.

Looks like they'd rather have GH burn out than fade away. The amount of games is going to increase and quality decrease until everyone gets sick of it.

If anyone here would pick up a copy and look at it, I'd like to invite you to see just how much they are 360 fanboys/girls. First, pay attention to how many games are covered and reviewed on the 360 vs PS3, then pay attention to how many PS3/360 games there are and pay close attention to how many are reviewed on just the 360. It's sickening. (Also on PS3) taglines of side comments about a PS3 version as well. Good thing my EGM subscription was free or I'd be asking for my money back.
