Mortal Kombat creator Ed Boon has confirmed the presence of fatalities in Midway’s forthcoming next-gen brawler, Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe.
Speaking during an interview with Gamespot, Boon confirmed that combatants from both franchises would sport fatalities, though noted some of the DC characters would not actually kill their opponents, instead leaving them alive in the form of brutalities.
“All of the MK characters and all of the DC villains will have fatalities. The DC heroes who don't kill that often will have brutalities that will function just like fatalities but don't actually kill the opponent,” said Boon.
MK vs. DC Universe is currently in development for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 and is due for release later this year. A playable demo is expected to show up at E3 next month.
Characters confirmed so far include Sub-Zero, Scorpion, Sonya Blade, Superman, Batman and Flash, with playable locations including Lin Kuei Temple and Gotham City.
Stay tuned.

Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe
Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe
who need this??
in my opinion MK is dead after Trilogy
A classic like Mortal Kombat could never die.
psn id: gingo... well of course theres going to be fatalities, if there weren't fatalities there would be no point in getting a mortal kombat game
it is dead
Mortal Kombat will never die. Merging it with DC Universe, however, is just stupid. I'd rather see a Mortal Kombat VS. Soul Calibur or something like that. Eh, whatever.
where on earth is the in game XMB?????????????????????
I can't wait for this game huge fan of MK games. I wasn't to happy with including DC heros but who knows killing Superman might be fun.
Its true the series wont die. They just need to find a way to win us back. This might look bad, but who knows maybe this is what will do it.
@psycho-mantis: Necessary?
This game has the possibility to be something special. Midway has what it takes to make it special. Before it can be, however, Midway has to fix one problem that has plagued the franchise since its transition to the Playstation 2.
That problem is the stagnant flow of the in game fighting. In a 2 dimensional fighter, it is not nearly as glaring which is why the franchise was so successful in the 2 dimensional realm. In a 3 dimensional fighting game, the flow must be smooth or the game will not be successful. Tekken is smooth, Soul Calibur is smooth, Virtua Fighter is smooth. Mortal Kombat has too much of a stop and go element about it's fighting.
Midway has done a great job on its upcoming TNA wrestling game(Probably because Vince Russo wasn't involved in the development) and it has a great flow about it. If they can bring a fluentness about MK vs. DC, it will be something to take a look at from a gameplay perspective.
What Midway must also do is add in all of the fixings. A storyline must be implemented and must be strong in order to really bring the game to life. Once more, Let's not go easy of the playable characters a la Capcom and SF4. Bring them all out.
As for Fatalities, please do not stop there. Animalities should also be there. Imagine Batman defeating Kano and finishing him off by dispersing into a thousand bats and eating Kano alive. That would be spectacular to see. Pretty much If I can't see Sub Zero freeze The Flash and break him in half, or see Liu Kang turn into a giant dragon and bite half of Superman's body off, it will be iffy for most MK fans. The devs recently said that there will be finishers, but not the classic fatalities we are used to seeing. So then, I am still on a wait and see tip about these so called fatalities and brutalities he speaks of.
If they have fatalities and it's DC versus MK this game is gonna rock. Check out Scorpion's face at the top imagine fatalities on that. I just hope they don't compromise on graphics and new ideas that don't get in the way of the fun or make things more complicated. BETTER BLOOD! VIOLENCE! YES!
Please, may we have a demo? There are a lot of interesting things about this one....
I heard the fatalities will be poor in gore, but I'd love to play with batman so that I can beat the cr@p out of superman (especially when you know he won't be invincible in the game) and give him a bl00dy brutality, lol!
I hope they have a cheat for one-button fatalities... Also, on-line could be cool...
P-C
*gasp* Mortal Kombat is going to have fatalities!??!?!?!?!!!!11111!!!!1 GTFO! No way! Someone alert the media! Tell them to stop the presses! We need to get this on page one!
And isn't a brutality worse than a fatality? It's been a long time...
I just can't picture DC Comics saying: "Sure, let Sub-Zero rip out Superman's spine. Sounds like a great idea."
I can only picture ALL of the characters having some non-leathal finishing move, like an Ultra Combo from Killer Instinct.
The tombstone for the Mortal Kombat series should read: "This is what happens when one of the creators leaves and the other chooses the Benjamins over the fanbase."
no M rated fatalities, this game sucks
i love mortal combat ever scince i played it in a ps1 i hope this game is going to be as good as it sounds
Yea RIGHT MK is the BEST !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
