FIFA 09 PS3 graphics "at least as good" as 360s, says EA

Electronic Arts has confirmed that the PlayStation 3 version its upcoming soccer outing FIFA 09 will feature graphics “at least as good” as its Xbox 360 counterpart.
"This year we've done a heap of work to make sure that the actual visuals of the game are at least as good on PS3 as 360, to the extent where we've had meetings with executives that have basically been fine tooth combing almost, taken a microscopic look at what's going on to make sure they are as good as each other, and they are,” said FIFA 09 Producer, David Rutter, during an interview with Videogamer.com
Speaking in regards as to why much attention was needed to get the PS3 version up to scratch, Rutter explained this was due to the fact developers initially worked on creating an Xbox 360 version first.
"A lot of it is to do with the fact that when all the game teams around the world started work on console games they ended up making a 360 version before a PS3,” he said.
So tools and technologies were there to support 360 in advance of PS3, and the investment required to do both is obviously an up front cost, and it takes a little while to catch up."
"Yeah. As far as we're concerned we're there. There is parity, as it's called, between 360 and PS3 for us. We're chuffed about that,” added Rutter.

They made subpar versions of their two biggest biggest games, Tiger Woods and Madden, for 2 and 3 straight years, respectively. If you got the 08 or 07 versions, you are an idiot.

They cost $60. They shut down their horrible and laggy online servers after 1 year. You are paying $60 for a roster update and online fee. Tiger woods doesn't even have the roster updates, so there you are paying (essentially) for online. You are the same people that won't pay $50 a year for Xbox Live, which covers ALL GAMES, but you will buy this EA garbage?! You know what that makes you? An idiot.

In Army of Two, they used the now-popular concept of DLC to sell you...weapons from the game! What next? Ammo?!

EA is the "easy way out" developer. They overwork their teams, pay them the least comparatively, and make licensed garbage. They spend heavily on the license and cut corners everywhere else. EA NEVER delays a project, and while that may sound refreshing, what that really means is nothing remotey creative is happening, so they will release non-fun, buggy games. IF YOU STILL BUY EA PRODUCTS, YOU ARE AN IDIOT!

Two examples. Two examples?! Do you realize how many games EA craps out? Did you actually read the rest of my post? Ok, "defender", what about the servers being crappy? Or shut down annually (*psst*...that means every year)? Or full price for games that are essentially the same thing as last year. They know the smart gamer would just skip the next Madden or Tiger Woods, so that's why they kill the online access when the new one comes out. What about the bullcrap DLC for Army of Two? What's your answer for all of these gripes? How do you justify that? Did you even read the artice up top?! I'm waiting.

Wow, i have yet to buy an EA sport game, and will continue to not buy one.
I bought Army of Two and traded it the day i beat it, not only was it really short it had no replay value to me, no way am i gonna purchase weapons and add ons for real cash, they were not worth it.
i'm gonna wait and see how Pro Evo 09 turns out.

"At least as good"? Do they not realize what they just said? And all that "up front cost" is moot by now. ea deserves nothing from us as long as we're served garbage like this. When will people learn? Well, so much for Dead Space. They can preach all they want, but I haven't bought and STILL won't buy any EA game.
And for those who still insist on getting titles from ea, you're only perpetuating the issues everyone else is bltching about.

EA is either being lazy or being paid off by MS. Lazy as just doing a port from 360 or paid off by MS so same games wont be much better on the PS3.
What kills me is port overs cus it will only limit the potential of the PS3 and the reason why a game wouldnt be designed for the PS3 is because you couldnt port it back to a 360. Just look at MGS4, how could that 50GB masterpiece be ported to a 360? Most of these PS3 games are 360 ports which is sad.

this is disgusting and they (EA)have the cheek to pass this on as good news,to be at least as good is not on at all,its still ea being lazy when the ps3 should be better and then they will expect uz to pay the same price for ps3 version as the 360 version.....just america or EU or some 1 split this company up,there too big now n got too lazy and gamers r getting screwed.(tiberium sun,red alert 3 cancelled for ps3 since they took over westwood n the same will happen if they get TAKE TWO.

You're probably American which means you don't understand how much football means to basically every other country. There are 2 good football games which come out every year - Pro Evo and Fifa. Last year Pro Evo was awful. Last year Fifa was good. This was usually not the case but this time it was. Now people who love football and games will buy one of these.
So, if Fifa is going to better than Pro Evo for a second time running then we will all buy it. No one cares about all your anti-EA bull. -

You say that like it was going to cover your azzes but guess what, it didnt. You are sorry dev's, and EA playstation is what supported you for all these years. you got rich of the ps brand don't forget that. I hope that all your games that you make for the ps3 stay of the shives and don't sell because of your lack of skills. If you start on the ps3 first and port down, you would see what your working with. I've been buying NCAA football since 96. 09 will be the last one I buy, you can bet that. on both system they cost 60 dollars, so you tell me that we are going to get a game that should be about 30 dollars vs xbox 60. Preach Odium! EA Sport's head is Peter Moore, former Corporate Vice President of Microsoft's gaming division. So as long as P. Moore is running EA sports. Our PS3's will be getting crappy ports of a lower standard (the 360 standard). They're hacks and will never make a game that lives up to the PS3's potential.
I just bought uncharted. Now that is what a PS3 game should look and play like.

Hmm, that was a slap in the face. EA, you are at LEAST as trustworthy as a snake. Seems like last time they said their sports games would "look the same," we found out the PS3 ran at 30fps instead of 60fps. What will be the catch be this time (besides a repackaged 08 game)? Sounds like EA is trying to give the PS3 the short end of the ugly stick.

I have both consoles (ps3, xbox 360) .. I was 100 % sure to get the ps3 copy because it should have better graphics... But, SURPRISE!!! I just downloaded both demos and I realized that ps3 version sucks!!! The graphics are like PS2... Lazy programmers, they should have done a good job with the ps3 version......
