Infinity Ward doesn't feel "tied to making Call of Duty"

Robert Bowling, creative strategist at Infinity Ward, has revealed that the developer may decide to work on something completely different following completion of Modern Warfare 2, admitting the studio “doesn’t feel tied to making Call of Duty games.”
Speaking to Develop, Bowling commented: "Once this is done, maybe we'll see about doing something new. If we do want to do something else, then we will do it. We don't feel tied to making Call of Duty games."
So, when can we expect the company to hang up its night vision goggles and vacate the battlefield? According to Bowling, not until developing Call of Duty games "stops being fun.”
"We still make Call of Duty games because we're having fun doing it. And when it stops being fun, we'll move onto something else,” he said.
Elsewhere, Bowling also touched on moving Modern Warfare 2 to other platforms – such as the Wii – admitting that Infinity Ward feels Nintendo’s console is unable to provide a cinematic experience equal to that available on other formats.
"If we felt like we could deliver the cinematic experience we were going for on other platforms, then we would gladly move to that platform," explained Bowling.
"Right now, we don't think the Wii can deliver the exact experience that we're doing. We like to be very equal across all platforms, and if it's not equal then we won't do it."
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is due out on November 10.

Have to agree with the Wii comment. Had a go of WaW on my mates Wii and it was eerrrrrr basic and those awfull controlls...........say no more.
Ps cant see them hanging up the COD boots for some time, after all it sells faster than a miley cyrus album at an year olds birthday party

They're not going to stop making COD games, they'd lose out waaaaay to much money.
Why can the PS2 handle cinematic experiences but not the wii. The wii coped well enough with Res Evil 4. The wii-mote should be able to handle a pretty good control method. Especially with motion plus.

Is it true that the PS3 version of MW2 will have a zombie-like mode in it?

I for one wouldnt mind them going back to WW!! and making a good ol classic CoD the way they used to be. Also I would really like for the CoD to b developed only by Infinity Ward and stop this yearly CoD thing....although I enjoyed CoD World at War. Note: I only buy the CoD games made by Infinity Ward.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say Infinity Ward are a one trick pony. Since their own series hasn't really evolved since the first one in 2003, I'm also going to go ahead and say they aren't exactly innovators - in their own game let alone the genre.
If memory serves, the founders of Infinity Ward broke off from the team behind Medal of Honor.
So, they might argue that they're not tied to CoD but whilst that's all they're able to produce and the fact ATVI pulls the strings - it's likely all they'll ever really be famed for.

Regardless of how they "feel" that is what they will make.
"We still make Call of Duty games because we're having fun doing it. And when it stops being fun, we'll move onto something else,” he said.
and of course by when it stops being fun he means stops making money.

Never played COD 4 Modern Warfare but I reserved Modern Warfare 2. With all of this hype, I decided to give it a try...........I hope I actually like it, because I played the World at War demo and didn't like it at all. Is Modern Warfare 2 gameplay going to be the same as World at War?
