Insomniac focused on PS3 this gen, says Price

Insomniac Games President Ted Price has revealed that his studio will be focusing its efforts this generation on Sony’s PlayStation 3 console, dismissing the possibility that it might be tempted to work on other platforms.
Speaking as to whether or not he feels compelled to work with other formats, Price told VentureBeat: "No. There are always opportunities, since we are independent. But for this generation, we are focused on the PS3 and the leading edge."
"Would you really double or triple your money by doing that? The answer is possibly. It depends on the publisher, the quality of the game, and if you can pull off multiple versions of games with the same level of quality. We haven't been set up to do that. We've been focused on PlayStation technology for a long time.”
“If we were to make that jump, it would take a lot of planning. Right now, we see the other side. If you have a strong publisher who is marketing your games as a way to sell the hardware, then you get a lot of exposure. The sales of "Resistance: Fall of Man" have done very well worldwide, including a lot of fans playing online."
Elsewhere, Price neglected to go into much detail on the company’s in-development project at its recently-opened satellite studio in Raleigh, North Carolina, commenting: “We aren’t saying what they are working on. But we have said they are using tools that we have developed here in Burbank to make games.”
The sequel to Resistance: Fall of Man, Resistance 2, is currently scheduled for release exclusively on PlayStation 3 later this year.
Stay tuned.

I'm really glad to hear this! Insomniac Games is great at what they do (it shows through RFOM, Ratchet and Clank, etc.) which makes me ald and excited to have them on the PS3's side.

@ TaMszz - Resistance gets better as you play through it - unlike most games these days which blow their wad in the early levels to get you hooked.
Plus, to this day, Resistance still has the best set of online features available in any PS3 game.

its always nice to see companies remain loyal, to be honest, im getting sick of Multiplatform, its the exclusives which make each console special.

With two studios I hope Insomniac Games release two titles each year. Like Resistance in November and Ratchet in April, type thing. Or keep Burbank working on Resistance and Ratchet titles and let the other studio make a new Ip. So we get new Ip plus ratchet or resistance every year.

Well, we all knew that Insomniac was staying exclusive to Sony, at least for this generation (unless the sky somehow starts to fall), but it's good to have them officially confirm it. I've heard so many people claim that the new studio is so they can focus on MP or even MS exclusive development, but it's clear here as well that this is simply so they can produce even MORE on the PS3!

rfom 2 is definetly not going to have the same amount of sales as rfom1. Cuz at the time the only good game out for ps3 wuz rfom and thats why it did so good.
but now there are other good titles. And i they dont sell as good as rfom1 they are definetly going multiplat.
i definetly dont want to say this and beleive this, but it could just happen.

insomniac has a great relationship with sony so why wreck it? and i personally dont think theyd like the requirements other companies sony gives their devs complete freedom
at chrisbosh: no you know how many new sony fans the garnered from rfom 1? not to mention the previous fans of sony in general and fans of insomniac. i bet R2 doubles rfoms sales they have no competition thats why KZ2 was moved to 09 insomniac has been with sony since ps1 they arent going anywhere
it would be an extremely dumb decision to go multiplat because the reason why their games are the quality that they are is because they can focus soley on tapping in to the power of one console and figuring its ins and outs soley rather than spliting up resources insomniac realizes this they are in a good position with sony always have been so why rock the boat? if they were ever to leave sony they would work for another dev exclusively for the same reasons listed above if you focus on one system you are able to get more out of it

If a dev wants to push their own limits, the PS3 is the place to be. 360 is easy to develop for and they can already get the most out of it. and the Wii, technically speking is last gen, you can't work on next-gen engines pushing the boundries on a Wii.
They wanna work on the PS3 and see how far they can go.

This is what i like basically there saying their not greedy and just happy making some profit and making the best game you can instead of making a sloppy multi platform game with big profits, these guys have my money.
