Metal Gear Solid 4 won't carry dual-audio

According to the latest reports out of the Kojima Productions camp, the Blu-ray disc isn't big enough to hold all of Metal Gear Solid 4 in its entirety. Apparently if you're a fan of the original Japanese voice overs and you live in America, you're going to have to import your game to hear them. Metal Gear Solid 4 will not be releasing worldwide with all voice over tracks included. What this means is, if you're in Europe or North America, expect to only be able to listen to the English track, where as if you live in Japan, expect to hear the standard Japanese voices exclusively.
The latest podcast from the camp released with this quote, "Unfortunately because of disc space, we don't have the space to include other languages, other voice over files for the respective versions. So the Japanese version's not gonna have English VO, and the North American and European versions won't have Japanese VO."
They may have been able to fit in the dual-audio voice overs by just a small margin, unfortunately, this would have led to the game being further delayed. Rather than keep the game out of the grasp of its strong following of fans, Kojima has decided to just keep something simple and provide the necessary voice overs in each region.
It seems a lot of MGS4 information has been hitting at one time, which is what was promised to us roughly a month ago. Hopefully, we'll be hearing a lot more info as the release date approaches. We'll keep you guys updated as things hit the open air.

Wow, and people thought this would be multi-platform. It would take at least 3 dvd-9's and thats only if MGS4 uses 25gb blu-ray.

You know what this means? It means that we're gonna have an almost unlimited amount of conversation in the game. You'll be able to annoy your radio partners more than ever probably. I bet there's going to be so many conversations that you won't be able to hear them all after your 3rd time playing through. It's going to be Emazing (electronically amazing.)

So much for a port to the "other side"...
Anyway, I think I can live without the Japanese voice overs, thought it was fun. When MGS3 came out, I was actually living in Japan at the time.

A little dissapointing but hey it's MGS the voice action has always been just fine in the english version anyway.but clearly he's hit the edge of the disk with all the things he's jammed into it and that can only be a good thing.
But one thing people, there's no confirmation that he was using the 50gb disk. as far as we know he was still using the 25gb disk and this is the reason why he wanted the 50gb disk.

I am not sure if they are talking about a 50 gig disc. Has any game been on a 50 yet? Why are so many people assuming that this is about 50 gigs worth of information.

What about European countries when you generaly have many languages on one disc? I'm thinking they maxed out just the 25gb and that Europe will get 50gb. So much space gets used as the data isn't compressed, well sometimes, its a good thing when its all uncompressed. If they wanted to Konami could have compressed the audio tracks to fit this in, unless they're donig this already just to get it on a 25gb disc. They compress data for 360 all the time cause DVD9 sucks.
I was dissapointed to see that the intro movie to the game Assassin's Creed on PS3 was very low quality and the sound is arwful. Ubi must of compressed it to fit on the DVD9 for 360 and just ported over the video to PS3? What gets me is that I'd seen the HD clip from IGN way before the games release and it is in way better quality.

Yeah Japanese voices are always better. No offense guys but American voice overs are almost always unrealistic. Im paying big bucks and have waited for ages for this game so I kind of expect the proper treatment here. I'd be cool with two disks - just get it done right.

The japanese voices only sound better because the fact that you dont know the language makes it sound more dramatic. If you knew the language you would know when they screw up an inflection or fail to use enough emotion to convey a believable reaction.
MGS has always been a series that could bost high quality voice overs by some of the mose experienced professional english voice actors availible so there's really no reason to even need the japanese voices outside of curiosity... besides 90% of the case are American to begin with so why should they speak japanese unless the game takes place there?

What percentage of American would actually play a Japanese voice-over version anyway??? Do you watch movies on your DVD or BD in other languages you can't understand?? Nope, I don't think the majority do!
