Fresh details regarding Insomniac’s upcoming PlayStation 3 exclusive sequel, Resistance 2, have surfaced in the latest issue of the UK’s Official PlayStation Magazine this week.
According to the publication, Resistance 2’s plot will kick off not long after the events of Resistance: Fall of Man, and will once again centre around the battle-hardened soldier, Nathan Hale.
Having survived the Chimera’s onslaught in the UK, Hale journey’s to Iceland, the base of the Special Projects Research Administration (SPRA), where he discovers that its human occupants have become infected with mutant DNA, giving them special healing and telepathic abilities.
Ted Price, President of Insomniac Games, described the new and improved Chimera enemies that gamers will be facing, including the ‘Chamelion Chimera’, which the player can detect by the footprints it will leave behind, or the outline of the creature caused by falling rainwater.
Price also touched on the games bosses, stating, "We've taken some of the lessons we've learnt from Ratchet and Clank: Tools of Destruction and used them with a twist. Bosses are significantly larger than anything we've tried in our games. One in particular is several hundred feet tall.”
The magazine also places the multiplayer offering under the microscope, confirming that the eight-player co-op feature will include a proper campaign and unique objectives for players to face.
Furthermore, a new weapon has been confirmed (dubbed “The Splitter”), described by OPM as a type of mini gun “capable of spraying a terrifying barrage of rounds.” Players will also be able to utilize a variety of special powers, healing included, which are in turn charged by dispatching enemies.
Resistance 2 is due for release on PS3 later this year.

As much as I love Killzone and cant wait for KZ 2, I think Resistance is sonys anti Halo game. RFOM 2 will smash what the gaylo series had the second go around.

wasent there already a weapon called the splitter in resistanse 1? kinda wierd that they would recycle a weapons name for a totally different type of weapon...

Don't ask for Master Chief and Halo. They already retired after being defeated by call of duty 4. I own the first resistance and it falls short in comparison with Call of Duty 4. But the story and graphics awere awesome nonetheless so lets see if this one impresses me more.
i would realy love to see more units then the now bigger stalkers and one new. But still if its 8plater co-op who cares for the units :D and only with 32vs 32

Another great title for the PS3 coming this year.
wasnt the splitter in the first game... the weapon that fired green bullets that split everytime u pressed L1??? anyway i hate to say it but i think this is gonna be better than killzone 2 (which will be awesome i hasten to add:))

One very happy PS3 gamer here :D I can't wait for R2! The looking for "footsteps" and "outlines as rain falls" sounds terribly enticing and enveloping, I can't wait. Sigh, we love you Insomniac.

The only reason you guys think this games better than Killzone 2 is because of the ammount of imformation weve recently seen on R2. Im sure if we saw and heard more information on Killzone 2 all you guys would jump back on the hype train. Resistance 2 and Killzone 2 will both be better than anything on the 360, i mean far, far better. But its not a competition between KZ2 and R2 we should be greeting both exclusives with great respect. These two games will help our loved Playsation brand become king again.
But, dont get me wrong im dying for some more chimera slaughter, Resistance 1 is the best game ive ever played. Its just that Killzone 2 will be great aswell.
