There is a reason for the Wii being cheap: It isn't even much better than the PS2!! (Yes, 2) the only thing it's selling for is its Wii-mote, which rarely gets used as something else than another way of a pressing a button. When i was about to play DBZ at a friend i expected the character to do some of my precise movements. But it was just like, take it out of the screen to the right, then in. Just like pressing a button, then releasing it!  And if the PS3 would go down to that price in two years... then it would almost cost the same as the PS2! It's insane for having the most advanced computer (available to public) set down to the mere price of $199!! Though, if possible, it would sell unbelivably much!

Yeah activision, lets see you in two years price all your games at $30 a peice before you go tell companies to drop theirs...Its so easy for you to tell other people to drop their price in half, going practice what you preach eh buddy?

i can see the 360 being almost as low as that fairly soonish as its not really next Gen in terms of the media it uses and the limited tech built in but the PS3 is worth the wonga, it really is a great piece of kit. And i couldnt believe it the first time i saw the Wii in the flesh...............ITS AN EXTERNAL CD ROM DRIVE stood on its side, with old hat graphics and a control system that you soon get fed up with using.

wii cannot be permanent cause its specs r equal to ps2 it just has difference of wii remote

its so easy to say when its not your money..... All the wii will do this generation, is to downgrade the technology for the next generation only cuz of the price.....

i don`t even consider the wii a next gen console,people just buy it cause its cheap n more for 10 year olds who blag there parents head to buy one.the novelty will wear off,its just a game boy on steriods tbh.im already seeing people in shops saying don`t get a wii the games r for babies.

if the ps3 were to be that cheap dang it would def sell well but i dont think it will be $200 in 2 years, prob $250 mybe in 3 1/2 yrs from now.  i guees it depends how well blue ray does b/c if the costs for blu ray technology goes down than sony could make their console a h*ll lot cheaper, thats what costs the most on the ps3 the blu ray drive.... but iam glad that they put the drive in the ps3, the playstation console could have been like the 360 w/a regular dvd drive

if people are content with buying a wii to play wii sports, zelda, and mario galaxy, then good for them.. to be honest their whole new market of older gamers is really just sticking to just wii sports.  sure the occassional sports fanatic will pick up tiger woods or madden or something, but tell me what solid games the wii has other than their regular 1st party titles?  its one thing to sell the consoles but how do they expect to keep their console owners happy w/o other games to be played?

 EDIT: my point of saying this is because i dont think people are going to let the price point be as large a factor once they are hungry for content.

in short i still think the wii is going to loose alot of wind out of its sail sooner or later unless they come out with some NEW killer apps (and it wouldnt hurt to have some from the 3rd parties too)     

im w8in for the ps3 to go to $199 and MGS4 and FF13-Vs13 will be $30 each :)

that is the lamest thing i've ever heard, the ps3 is exspensive yes, but that is because unlike the wii that is s#$% in white plastic (no it's not freaking next-gen, it has less power then the ps2) you actually get something for your money when you buy a ps3, look at uncharted: drake's fortune!! untill i see games like that on the wii (the current wii, not some wii380) then this guy can shut up and stop talking like the ps3 and wii are the same, can the wii play blu-ray? no? well too bad!

There is very good chance that the 40gb PS3 will be $200 in 2 years anyway. I disagree on what he says about the consumer not being bothered about inferior products. Its really like saying they should lower 60" 1080p HDTV's as 32" 720p tv's are setting industry standard as far as price goes. What about Ferrari? should they lower their prices because Toyota or who ever set the industry standard? You clearly get what you pay for in the electrical consumer industry. You can't expect companies to lose money on products they sell.

I'm not the biggest Wii fan. But I've seen Metroid in action, and I have to say that it looked pretty good (all around tho not my type of game). I don't think the PS2 could pull it off. Remember that the gamecube and original xbox were more powerful than the PS2. It's pretty dumb to picture the PS3 at $199. I can see the lower class 360 at that price tho. $199 is just ridiculous for an advance gaming system with as many capabilities as the PS3. If the PS3 was $299, that would be such a perfect price.

I can see $299 in two years for the premium sku's of the consoles.  $199 is total b.s.  They're not taking any inflation or basic economics into account. 

 

And heck, in two years M$ will have a new console out.

A PS3 for 199.99? I dont know if I would want that model. Because its going to be completely stripped. But seriously. A PS3 for 199.99. Why dont sony just open up their main Warehouse and just give everything away to the public!?

I think all games need to come down in price to $39.99. Oh but then that will cut into their profit and we can't have that now can we.

That means, that a PS3 would cost the same as two games. Where's the sense in that?

Wow, stupidity run rampant.... The Wii is cheap because it is just that....Cheap. It is a good console, dont get me wrong, but it is not in the league of the PS3. I think game companies need to kepp there mouth shut about console pricing and worry about why there games suck so bad. Make great games for whatever console. The PS3 is in a great position right now. Blu-ray is becoming a household name and Sony will start to see the sales of there PS3 increase because of this. Not to mention the games that have come out recently are amazing. As for Nintendo lowering there price? Why would they do that. They are selling a ton at there current price.

I think the Wii is great value- it maybe matched by the PS2 for games, but you're missing the point.  As with the other "next gen" systems, conectivity is key, and in this area it completely annialates the PS2.  As a social networking device, it is the best value way to connect which beats all systems, including PCs.  That's why it's No.1 worldwide.

A Slim PS3 for $199.00 by then.....

the 360 will be 200 in 2 years because the xbox3 will be out by then =D

As much as I love Activision now because of COD4, they can't seriously believe this load of bull shlt. We have something that costs 600-700 dollars to produce, and we are going to sell it for 200 dollars? Think again, mates.

uhh wii sucks and can't do anything thats why its so cheap.  the only good point is its controller.  GG activision needs to stop talking and make better games

Realistically the PS3 will probably be $299 in 2 years. MAYBE $249. But c'mon Mr. Kodak $199 in 2 years? Shi' the 360 might not even have 2 years left knowing how MS likes to roll out consoles. This guy must be smoking crack... er jack.

If anything the Wii is trying to find the lowest standard people will take on a console.  Gamecube was cheaper than the PS2 and Xbox, see where that got it?

why buy a wii console if you d'ont have the same quality games as on ps3, maybe we payed more and maybe the games are expensive but at least we have our moneys worth.

If ps3 reaches that price in 2 years(doubt it!) it will definitely be the undisputed king of the videogame industry.

I think 300 usd is the lowest it will be in 2 years.
