Sounds like the US is one of the biggest players (no pun intended) in the gaming industry.  From history, seems like one Japan and the US gets going other countries will follow shortly. Maybe this time next year, once most of the biggest anticipated games are released...PS3 will be the talk...and the walk for that matter.

on topic doesnt matter for me if 360 sells 1 billion as long as ps3 sells and we get games at some point ms hate will grow b/c devs will have higher goals and the dvd wont cut it, they will get hddvd and then well im just guessing they end up dead, tho sports games and such wont hate them

the halo effect has passed away on NA now its time to see what Sony is capable of doing to bring his console pack to first place or at least second

This is good news but i fear it may not be enough. Developer stupidity may be the undoing of the PS3. Take for example Midway and the Blacksite Area 51 debacle and the Stranglehold mess. Then consider how Call of Duty 4 will be a inferior version with no CE on the the PS3 as well as the beta being MS exclusive. Then of course are the string of bad ports and cash cows. This all equates to potential customers never even considering getting a PS3. Why should they? The games they want now are on 360, and are better versions that are fully developed? Why would someone wait an extra six months for am inferior game? That is what leaves a bitter taste in all our mouths because we know this is true. This "Sony Tax" from the developers is growing increasingly aggrevating with such promising titles such as World in Conflict and Orange Box being delayed, misported, cancelled, and otherwise mismanaged is what I feel is going to be Sony's biggest obstacle. I applaud Sony's recent statements that they are going to focus on first party development, as it seems third party developers/publishers are simply not interested in out business, aside from Ubisoft of course. Think about it, what love has EA shown the ps3? Madden and the fps shocker? What Midway and the multiplayer neutering? Infinity Ward and the blatant MS favoring? What have any of these games houses offered us anyways that we would be interested in other than more and more incarnations of overplayed franchises that people have lost interest in years ago. We as gamers lost interest in all of the WW2 FPS games, because their were literally dozens of them, and the same is happening with games in general. Seriously, we dont NEED twelve more Final Fantasy games. We dont NEED Tekken 38, or Need For Speed 92, or another bloated Madden game, what we NEED, and more importantly WANT is original Q-U-A-L-I-T-Y stuff to spend sixty bucks on. This is a vicious cycle I hope Sony breaks.

They are for the whole of europe. The ps3 sold just under 16,000 and the wii 25,000 in thw UK.

Soviet-Messiah I don't disagree entirely with you but, you're not seeing the whole picture, ppl DO WANT 20 or 50 ff's as long as they're different in the content and have quality, the same happens with GTA's or GT's or even NFS's, we have to aproach this matter from a diferent perspective, if you look around most of these games will even be on PC in a few months or even a year, and I bet that probably with more quality than the PS3 in some cases, and when this happens ppl will prefer to upgrade their PC's than buy a 360 (at least that's my case) and more as the size of the games increases as some of our dear friends here stated the 360 will have no capacity to compete with the rest of the systems in one or two years even less, or do you see Bill Gaitas paying to have BR on his consoles??? i don't think so................. regarding the developers/publishers  i just hope that europe gets the same attention as the US and Japan will have, since they've been getting a lot of nice games ever since psone, and that svcks, maybe that trend will change with the ps3 but who knows?

We DO want 20 Final Fantasies. If you haven't noticed, each is with enough different story, art-style, and nowadays even in combat. Something like that applies to the other games, too - but in smaller changes.  (though, in EA franchises the changes are often null).

I bought my PS3 just for several games: Resistance, DiRT, Skate, Burnout5, FF13 - and so far I'm completely pleased with the purchase, despite it all costing almost 3 months' salaries for me (so far). Even now there are many other available PS3 titles I'd like to get, but I'm saving for Burnout5 and FF13 first. Anything else that comes in the near or distant future will be a huge bonus for me. Because in the PC world you do have to spend (extra) $500+ just to play 2-3 new good games (look at your collection of PC components). Or endlessly suffer the misery of bad framerates and fugly graphics. Or wait 3 years till those components become $150... and in most online games there are only hardcore players left online to compete with.

So, it's great seeing that PS3 continues to sell, because that obviously increases the chance of having those forementioned bonuses of future-titles.

But Soviet-Messiah, what do you mean "there are no original games anymore". Sure, on x360 that is the case. But in PSNStore, what is available and what is upcoming - if that isn't "completely fresh", then I don't know what is. And most of those PS3 retail games, that are either PS3 exclusives or available on both PS3 and x360 - there are so many fresh things about them.

70k for the Wii, kids today? I have a 8 year old nephew and him and his friends talk about the Wii. A 9 year old around the corner got a PS3. When I was told I thought to myself that the console was too high tech for a kid. So maybe the Wii is a good thing as small children need something to play.

Ok so the Final Fantasy example was bad. My point is, could anyone casually tell me what the key differences were between need for speed most wanted and need for speed carbon? How about the differences between all the tony hawk games? How about this: what honestly makes NCAA 2k7 such a revolution compared to NCAA 2k3? THAT is my point. That is why the Wii is kicking our buts, because they have all sorts of new gimmicks. Sure, the Wii has 500 Mario games, but it also has 500 other games no one has ever heard of. All we have for the most part are more Ratchet and Clank games, more Final Fantasy, more Metal Gear Solid, more Killzone, more Fallout, more Red Faction, more Tony Hawk, more Madden, more grand Theft Auto. more Armored Core, more Unreal Tournament, more Devil May Cry, more Ace Combat, more Silent Hill, more Resident Evil, more Time Crisis, more Full Auto, more Ridge Racer, more Halo, more Gears of War, more God of War, ad nauseum. Take a look around people, some of these are into 5 or 6 sequels!!!! How many Resident Evils will it take? How many more Mortal Kombats have to come out before we want a new fighting game? Now of course these games will probably be great, and I cant wait to play a lot of them, but sometimes dont you just get the feeling that you are playing a higher resolution PS2? Doesnt it ever dissapoint you that the gameplay, mechanics, characters, settings, etc are all pretty much the same only now in 1080P??? The only original games of note are Lair, Heavenly Sword thats it. Resistance is getting turned into a trilogy so it falls into the previous trap. My point is, wouldnt you like to see more original games instead of sequels to every "franchise" under the sun?
