Prototype install errors, solution inside

For anyone getting error messages when trying to install their new copy of Prototype for their PlayStation 3, Activision support has provided a temporary workaround while we wait for a patch via the PlayStation Network to fix the problem once and for all.
The issue occurs when your PS3 indicates you have insufficient hard drive space, even if you know you have more than enough room. You’ll have to change the amount of space on your hard drive by 700MB. You can do this by installing another PS3 game, downloading a game demo, removing downloadable content, or adding/removing music or movies from your hard drive.
The goal is to change the available hard drive space - try different variations. Once you’ve made the changes, try installing Prototype again. If you still cannot install the game, we recommend you contact Activision support.

Sounds like the same sort of thing Ratchet and Clank Future: Tools of Destruction had on release too. Not too big of a drama, just needed to install something else.

Game install still happen because people USE the Harddrive for what it was meant to be used for: GAMES. It's not just there to look pretty.
As for how the error happened, it's clearly not happening to everyone, in some cases it would seem to be a very random error since no one has the same size harddrive depending on what you have installed or stored. Just the fact that they discovered changing the content of the drive would fix it seems incredibly lucky. it is a stupid error but atleast it's one with a fairly easy work around.

this game is GARBAGE!!!! the ign review really helped me dodge a bullet now i can save the money i was gonna use on prototype to get the conduit later this month

No problem for me. Installed fine. Love this game. A lot more variety, blood, and innovative features. More interesting and entertaining then using electricity to hurt people.

Prototype got 7.5 on ign.com hahaha i knew it it will suck infamous rule!! lucky my brother bought infamous he was about to get prototype but i told him it will suck then i told him infamous is way better then he bought it

bl**** h*** people, ign is onle 1 gaming website out of hundreads that dose reviews n things. except them it got lots of good reviews from other review. i also think that giving a game a bad score JUST because of bad graphics is just sooooooooooo st**** its unbelivable. ign are just pr**k* and dont know anything. after i read there review i went ahead to buy the game to check if they were saying the truth(because i never believe ign) and at no suprice to me the game was BRILLIANT i mean its really good except the graphics.
i let my friend borrow inFAMOUS for as long as we wants because i know i wont be playin that for a while.

The review aggregate website Metacritic currently lists the game as having an overall score of 86 out of 100 on PS3, 82 out of 100 on XBox360 and 84 out of 100 on PC. IGN reviewer Eric Brudvig gave the Xbox 360 version of the game a 7.5 out of 10, praising the wide array of powers and gameplay but criticizing some of the game's graphics and unremarkable sidequests. GamePro gave the Xbox 360 version of the game a 4.5 out of 5, citing the game's "sense of power and possibility" while also criticizing the lack of variety in enemy type and occasional uneven difficulty
as you can see it got some really good scores aswell as 1 or 2 bad ones. this is just afew of the scores it got.
i can say with full confident and no dount in my mind AND no regreats that prototype is BETTER than infamous because of its non stop fun, gore, and everything else except the graphics and some missions.
prototype is a good game and you people should just check it out and look beside the graphics and plus the graphics arnt that bad, there more like average. which is really good for a game that had over 50 to 100 people on the screen at once moving around without lagging or gliching and has vehicals, more powers, and just more things init so of couse the graphics arnt the going to be the best and infamoius is a slow game untill you fight people but PROTOTYPE is full on action were u would get in a fight around every corner (not every courner but u have loads of action. LOOK AT MAG FOR A GOOD EXAMPLE BIG PLAYER COUNT BUT AVERAGE OR UNDER AVERAGE GRAPHICS. prototype is really good but in inFAMOUS you do get more attachted to the player which makes you more into the gameplay with him. either way prototype is really good. i rate inFAMOUS 9.3/10 and [PROTOTYPE] 9.6/10 because im looking beyond the graphics of the game.

IGN reviews?? If your dumb enough to go by someone elses rating then dont comment. Cause you'll just repeat this opinion and not your own. COD4 had SOOOOO MANY PROBLEMS, yet how many bought and worshipped that, same with GTA4 among others.. And about HDD, oh no u have to delete a movie you illegally downloaded. If thats the biggest problem with this game, then appreciate it. YOUR ALL SHEEP,,

@8, I don't know what planet you are from but this game sucks. It gets boring as heck really fast, there is ZERO replay value, bland atmosphere, etc etc. This game is a straight up piece of trash. The developers were overhyping this game to be a godsend and all they did was put in crap effort.
