Sony UK’s Mark Howsen has said that the company aims to deliver regular shipments of new stock for its DualShock 3 controller, despite conceding that it may not be able to meet day one demand for the hotly anticipated peripheral.
Speaking with MCV UK, Howsen, Director of Sales for PlayStation UK, commented: It's going to be a close call as to whether we can guarantee enough stock for everybody day one. However, we'll be making regular shipments thereafter in order to satisfy demand.”
Howsen also revealed that the Sixaxis control pad would remain on sale for a while longer, adding, "We'll continue to offer the Sixaxis controller for the time being, giving consumers a cost effective choice, based on their gaming needs.”
The DualShock 3 controller is now available for purchase in the UK for approximately GBP 39.99.
Stay tuned.

wtf meet demand my a*se! there will not be much demand as people who want have gotten abroad and at a price tag of £40 most people will jsut go get game i think ill wait till it goes to under £30
Having the choice between both controllers is a good idea, not everybody want's rumble especially when the sixaxis is cheaper!
the DS3 is still cheaper then a sixaxis in EU
Got mine from YesAsia for £30.01 all inclusive when GT5P was released.
@ bloodwarg - Spot on mate!
EDIT: Refreshed the page and it double-posted my previous comment!
What I want to know is when they will announce the phasing out of Sixaxis controllers in the near future.
£40 is a bit steep. if u can import it for £30
@uncool i really can't see them phasing out sixaxis considering everyone person with a ps3 has at least 1. because theres game which it plays an important part in like socom confrotnation where you need to tilt back controller when leaning against wall to lean abck and free up your weapon to be able to shoot. really sixaxis wasnt a bad idea it just needed to be implemented ebtter in games.
@ bloodwarg
AFAIK the DS3 has full tilt functionality as well, so phasing out the "one with tilt and no shock" for the "one with tilt and shock" is a logical move.
Though I do _NOT_ want a DS3. I love how light weight my Sixaxis is, and I know the DS3 is going to be a lot heavier. When they decide to phase out Sixaxis I will have to stock up on a couple.
psn id: gingo... got it today and am very happy but the price is very steep, £40 ($80) for a controller is quite frankly ridiculous but i suppose they can charge whatever they want for this so called high demand
wow £40.00. Thats pretty expensive.
People complain about the pricing of controllers. How often do you buy controllers? Usually they last the whole life of the system when you buy them. I for one would spend the little extra money on a DS3 as opposed to regular SixAxis.
Too damnd late Sony Europe, got mine from the good old US of A when away on business, £50 for two.
Oh and by the way that price is taking the P1SS
