A Japanese online retailer has posted the first "PlayStation 3 the Best" titles on their website. "PlayStation the Best" titles are also known as 'Platinum titles' in Europe and 'Greatest Hits' in the US. All games selling above a certain number, and being in stores for over a set number of months can make it to the list.
PlayStation the Best are budget titles, and usually sell for about $20 (on the PS2) in North America. The same goes for Europe, but with a Euro sign before the figure.
The Japanese retailers have listed the following budget titles:
- Resistance: Fall of Man
- Folklore
- Ninja Gaiden Sigma
- Gundam: Target in Sight
- Ridge Racer 7
All of the five titles above will retail for 3,800 yen, which is about $35. They will all arrive on March 19th.
An official announcement by Sony Computer Entertainment Japan is yet to be released, but you can expect it to be soon. For all Americans and Europeans, we might have to wait a while longer for these low-priced titles.

Great news! Gotta love good games cheap! (But I already have most)
One more little thing that should help ps3 sales slightly more...all the little things add up....now people can't say that to get a good game cost $60.00. They'll soon be running out of valid excuses.

Well the reason why Resistance was sold at a high price tag for almost a year was because the PS3 didn't have any epic games for almost a year and Resistance was selling well so why would Insomniac lower the price when it is selling so well at such a high pricetag? As for Uncharted and Ratchet I think we might see a price drop earlier than later becuse of all the epic games coming out this year if Naughty Dog and Insomniac want their games to sell they need to lower the price tag.

I would love to see this come over to the US. It would help generate more sales for Ninja Gaiden Sigma hopefully. That game is just to good to pass up.

@Deldwen: That made me laugh so hard.

Looks like I have a list of titles to pick up before they become Greatest Hits. I don't know about you guys but I hated owning GH titles, I liked the original versions.

Good. I thought there would be more than that though. I expected Motorstorm to be one of the first titles that went platinum, seeing as almost everyone that bought a console between Novemeber 2006, and september 2007 bought Motorstorm.
Good to see that these are starting to be released, at least over in Japan. Hopefully it wont be long before they make it over here in Europe, so that people wh missed out on these titles first time around (or didnt feel they were worth the money) can buy them for cheap.

maybe because figt night and f1 didn't sell to well, to go platinium the game has to have sold over a certain number, over 1million if i'm not mistaken and plus the game has to be on the market for more than a year
