Sony bows to Blu-ray porn industry in Japan

Sony has finally bowed to the porn industry in Japan, at least in an offhand kind of way. Though Sony still will not "press" Blu-ray discs containing adult content, they have sold a machine to a new Taiwanese company, which has already made an agreement to manufacture adult Blu-ray movies. In addition, Sony has promised to give technical support to any Blu-ray manufacture, regardless of the intended content.

This latest news comes from the Adult Treasure Expo 2007 in Japan. Currently there are 10 adult Blu-ray titles available to Japanese. Yoshimasa Nozu, a producer at Total Media Agency, promises that they will begin to output at least 1 new title a month alongside the new announcement. The HD-DVD camp only has one such film at the moment.

The VHS format benefited immensely from the pornography industry, as Sony learned the hard way with their Betamax format by refusing to house such videos on their storage medium. The HD-DVD is currently king of porn in the US thanks to Sony once again refusing to house such material on their format. However, with this latest news, it may not be long until adult video stores are stocked with Blu-ray videos.

    I am no fan of Porn, but YES!!!! This will make Sony get more Blu-Ray sales, trust me... the number one media is Porn. Not matter if its in stores or online.

    I really wish they would get their facts straight. Sony really hasn't stopped porn from being licensed on blu ray, they just do not allow it to be replicated in their plants.

    This is interesting.. Especially how well blu ray is doing someway they should add like tons of extra things on all that space but high def people itll get to the point where it seems realistic and in a 3d way without 3d glasses.

    Hrm. I understand why Sony wouldn't come to agreement with the porn industry but they aren't gonna be able to stop it. Bottom line is people are going to get porn whatever way they can. They'll sell a lot more Blu-ray titles this way.

    If I;m not mistaken one of the first adult bluray's in japan was the Haruhi Susumiya porn parody. Honestly Unless all the "actors" and "actresses" are perfect looking I can't see the point especially when their porn is censored with blocky mosaics.

    I suppose that if I decide to pay for it(seeing as it will be more expensive than those $30 Blu Ray movies), it would be nice considering my computer and monitor cannot handle HD adult content. It always loads slow and plays choppy.

    Vivid has begun releasing all adult DVD titles simultaneously on Blu-ray.
    That means about 1 titel per week

    Blu Ray or High Def DVD I don't mind which porn is available on if you ask me HD DVD is better since it's already compatible with the player i have, but i actually prefer london escorts then watching porn any day.
