Speaking at a Namco event this week, Atari confirmed that the highly anticipated Tekken 6 will be released in Fall 2009, describing the upcoming brawler as the “biggest and best in the series.”
The game was announced as a multiplatform title for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 at the Tokyo Game Show in September this year, having previously believed to be exclusive to Sony’s console.
It may feel like Fall is a long ways away, but don't start counting down the days just yet. There are a lot of great titles that will aid you in the pain-inducing game of waiting and wanting. We'll be sure to update you with a solid release date as soon as it's announced.

Please note that the PS3 version will not be the same as the current arcade edition but rather the upcoming upgrade called Tekken 6: Bloodline Rebellion. This version will add lots of cool new stuff that is worth waiting for like two all new fighters and more returning fighters from older Tekken games and lots of new moves for the exsisting characters, new stages, new custom items and more! This version will be release at Japanese arcades later this month (dec 2008).

Even though they are porting Bloodline Rebellion instead of the original T6 I still think Fall 2009 is a long wait. Tekken is like one of the defining games of the PS console line and by giving us a HD version of T5: DR with poor online capabilities just to keep us in the loop is just ridiculous. It's really getting on most people's nerves that games that are going to 360 also are being held back for us PS owners. The Last Remnant went multiplatform but we are still waiting while 360 owners enjoy it.

As a tekken fan I wish it would be release sooner as well, but what can you do? It is what it is.
