If you love Rock Band, you're in for possibly the most exciting announcement in a long while (with some added sticker shock on the side). Introducing the Ion Drum Rocker, the most advanced drum controller ever conceived.
This premium Rock Band 2 controller comes in at a whopping $299, but if you love the drums, it appears you have no choice but to sucker up and buy a set. Developed by engineers at Alesis, one of the largest manufacturers of professional electronic drums in the world, the Drum Rocker offers a professional aluminum drum rack that is unrivaled in all aspects.

First off, the pads are super high-quality. Sporting velocity-sensing tech and more realistic rebound, you can whack these things into oblivion and come out fine. As for the the snare, tom and cymbal pads, you're able to position them wherever you please (Note: two cymbals included, one is an extra accessory). Finally, put the pedal to the metal with, well, a metal pedal. No more broken plastic here, just a beautiful looking kick drum with a proper amount of tension that won't slide around.
As the icing on the proverbial cake of awesomeness, whenever you get tired of Rock Band, you can use these bad boys with one of the professional drum brains made by Alesis and play them as a real electronic drum kit. That further proves their versatile and realistic design.
So, a $299 drum controller? Yes, yes it is. A brilliant and price-justified $299 drum controller? Yep.

no way. why would i spend this much on drums for a game, people aren't made of money and i am not spending 2 weeks of work on one thing. if you buy this your a looser. i might buy rockband with the guitar and game and that's it. 299.00 ????? that goes in "what were they thinking?" pile
A less expensive drum set will be available I believe. This is a premium set.
it clearly says it functions as a electronic drum kit as well, reading is a wonderful thing......
I'm not buying this for sure! That's really pricey. Though it does sound fun.
i'm not rich
Nice nice, they're going the right way. Come on Konami! Give me a Japanese premium controller! Drummania ftw!
I'd get this baby, if I'd really want it. But I don't now. I want Japanese music, so I'm at the wrong side of the internets here.
I hope they don't plan on selling these a lot because with that money you can buy 2 rock band bundles.
For those of you that missed Snowspader's comment, "THE 'CONTROLLER' FUNCTIONS AS AN ELECTRONIC DRUM KIT AS WELL." I won't be buying this mostly because I don't have the money and because I don't have Rock Band. Either way, this electronic drum kit is definitely worth the price considering that it is much, much more than just a controller. Bad-ass.
Rip-off, I hate milked franchises like this !!
The only people who;ll buy this are people who like to play real drums as well as RB, Clearly it's not meant for you guys they dont expect YOU to buy it they expect guys who actually might play IN a band.
gutair hero 4 i think im gonna be buying sorry rock band...
Almost as much as the whole console!? I'll pass
good or not that's more than the wii. so... no. just.. no. heck its more than the 360.
I guess I'm in the minority from the posts, but I will definatly be buying this drumset, pricey? honestly? who else paid $600 for thier PS3? A show of hands? If you don't want it don't buy it, but a real electric drumkit that also functions in RB2, why would it be less than $299 is my question.
EA can screw themselves, price is an rip-off - im might be going for GH4 instead.
u lot no this can be used as a real electric drum set
a buy? uh, no
lol thats almost a ps3 in the us.
thats really awesome but i would never spend 300 bucks on them although the fact that you can use them as real drums (if you buy the additional brain of course) makes them alot more worth the price tag
I don't see myself buying an accessory for that price. Its nice for the electronic drum kit tho.
I'm kind of surprised at the negativity in regards to this article. If you don't want it, don't buy it. But as with the PS3 there are things that DO cost money. Not everything can be either free or cheap. Stop ragging on those that HAVE the cash for things like this. Video gaming can be an expensive hobby. But then again So is Scuba Diving, which is what I do, and I don't complain. And yes I've a PS3. And no, I'm not interested in either RB or GH. If I wanted to play guitar, I'd just learn it.
i reckon they wont make many of these and if demand theyll probably make to order.
"As the icing on the proverbial cake of awesomeness, whenever you get tired of Rock Band, you can use these bad boys up with one of the professional drum brains made by Alesis and play them as a real electronic drum kit. That further proves their versatile and realistic design." READ IT CAREFULLY IT SAYS YOU CAN USE THESE AS A REAL ELECTRONIC DRUM KIT!!!!! NOW THATS WORTH THE PRICE!!!!
wow this is actually pretty cheap, i might consider it, i've wanted an electronic drumset since i can't lug my real drumset in appartments. I'll have to wait and see some reviews on how it is as an electronic drum set, the fact that it works with rockband is only a bonus.
By the way, the one's that say it's pricy and only a loser would buy this are out of their mind, they either didn't read it properly or don't know what the price of an electronic drum set is, or the price of a real drum set for that matter.
def gonna buy these. i guess im in the minority too. it is a little pricey but i can put a little away every week and have ths baby in a month. i have always been a drummer and sold my old set a while back. this will bring back so many memories. oh and when i sold my old8 peice set 5 years ago, i sold it for $400 so this will be a good deal for all those who think they are over priced. again read the whole topic, this is not just a controller, its a functioning drum set!
For use in a Game ? Nahhhhhhhhh
Release some Recording software on the PS3 and a REAL GUITAR perhaps and oyur on a roll $ONY, wonder how long till someone makes a Hit Single with it !!!
Expensive. But.... excessive. I like Seth's box of plastic best... however that is also expensive.
What about the hihat pedal? D:
Hope it gets better, and to the PS3 :P
and people complain about a $399 SYSTEM? cmon..
I will stick with Guitar Hero 4 or World Tour....Whatever they are going to call it.
everone was saying that the guitar hero 4 drumm set was better because it had the high hat sstuff now this has it and it looks better in my opinion. but seriously cant you lower it even if it is worth it?
dont even hav rockband out on ps3 ovr here :( ill just wait till huitar hero 4 :D
Im so gonna buy this. the way i see its worth it is cuz its much better made than the drums that come with RB. I'm on my second set of drums, and EA wouldn't replace them cuz the damage was from wear and tear.................. didn't even last a year. :(
so if i can spend $299 on something thats better made and will last longer PLUS can be used as an electric drum kit, It's worth it. I'm not rich but one thing in life is that YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR
