The Witcher 2 getting console release

CD Projekt’s Tomasz Gop has revealed that a console-based version of PC RPG sequel The Witcher 2 is in the pipeline.

Speaking to GRY-Online, Gop said that the developer is keen to get the game out on consoles too, though noted it’ll be a while before we see the title on store shelves, as there is still plenty of development time left on the project.

“Although PC is a certain choice we made regarding platforms for The Witcher 2, we also want to release the console version,” he said. “However, please do not expect the game too soon,” Gop warned. “The Witcher 2 is still deeply in the development stage and as it is huge and complex, there are still many, many hours of work in front of us.”

The Witcher 2 was unveiled for the first time earlier this week in leaked video form. No further details are available at present, though we’ll keep you posted.

     Sweet loved the witcher on pc, when's the enhanced version that was coming for consoles btw? Anyways looking forward to this.

    They were developing one before but it got canned, is this a different project?  RIse of the White Wolf was the canned one.

     Would be very nice if they're very, very good with the PS3. The video I saw looked very impressive.  Would be nice if Naughty Dog would be helping, if not porting it to the PS3, to get more out of the system. But, maybe they will manage ok.

     

    @3 From looks of it, you'd be foolish to pass on that game. Check out the supposedly leaked HD vid on Youtube guys. Sky alone looks awesome. Then there's the dragon...

    Yeah I was bummed to hear that Rise of the White Wolf, the console version of The Witcher was put on the shelf. Hopefully they will still bring it out later. It made me wanna read the books by Andrzej Sapkowski.

    what happened to witcher one? they should dev that for ps3, it would be awesome, they would definately have a market for it since there is lack of rpgs for ps3

    Just because it's the Witcher 2 doesn't mean it's in anyway related to the first one story wise.

    Rise of the White Wolf was on my wishlist till it got......'postponed'. I'll keeping an eye on this one.

    @8 You can get the original for PC. Very much worth it, if it can handle the game well. Even if you do not, it would be a shame if you miss out... Assuming it turns out to work well enough on the PS3. It is their first game on the PS3, and it does look kinda demanding enough to be a problem...
