UPDATE: This feature has been clarified by MTV Multiplayer. You'll still be able to swap discs and play the PS2 songs in SingStar PS3, but the disc needs to be present in the drive. You won't be able to store songs on your hard drive.
ORIGINAL ARTICLE: SingStar seems to be taking a page out of the Rock Band playbook as the next firmware update will come with a pleasant feature.
That's right, the PlayStation 3 will soon allow you to rip PS2 SingStar tracks for use with your PS3 version. There isn't much else known about this update such as when we can expect it, but we'll keep you up to date when the information leaks out.

yeah honestly its not that hard to listen to your music and play a game considering most people own some kind of MP3 player i mean jesus get over it, i would rather devs focus on trophies than in game music

I really don't understand the need for in game music,i mean it's ok in 2d fighters, but not so much in games like MGS 4,or Uncharted....
