Wii-style peripherals coming to PS2

Feel left out of the next-generation console race? Well look no further because In2Games has announced their PlayStation 2 motion-sensing accessories will debut at the Leipzig Gaming Convention.

The first six games of the franchise will enter the market this holiday season and retail at £29.99. Each game released will mimic the wireless controller counterpart and will include:

1. Realplay Tennis
2. Realplay Pool
3. Realplay Golf
4. Realplay Racing
5. Realplay Bowling
6. Realplay Puzzlesphere

Elliott Myers, CEO of In2Games, stated “The Realplay range of games is aimed squarely at those PS2 owners who want to play wireless motion-sensing games without needing to splash out on a new console.” An interesting attack on a niche market that at this point could go either way. On the other hand, In2Games did secure £7.6 million in capital to develop the technology so there must be some interest.

In closing, Mayers stated, “Each peripheral is as accurate as any video gaming technology out there at the moment, but on an entirely new format. The games are fun, challenging and highly addictive…” trying once again to bang home the new product line. It seems like a nice touch for the PS2 especially at that price point. With the PS2s penetration rate, there is little reason to think otherwise.

I guess the ps2 is definitely going to live it 10 years life-span in luxury. And not like a console that was given up by the manufacturer at half through it's life,cough....MS....cough

i think how it REALLY hurts the wii isn't the fact that the PS2's motion sensing device will bring their sales down, but the fact that it makes the Wii look dated like it REALLY is because it is now in competition with last gen consoles, and not the big boys. thats what it looks like, instead of combating the PS3 in motion sensing it is combating the PS2's motion sensing because it looks more familiar and, well, a "blatant rip-off"(in a good way).

I would laugh if this generated more sales than the wii over the next year.

if this is succesful u could expect to see a simailr range grace the ps3, i feel the only reason its on ps2 is to see the market will take to these games, and also to create a fan base of the series as the ps2 will be the ideal format for sony to do this on as its sold around 120 million units lol

i knew this was happening i just wasn't sure how they was gonna pull it off i actually thought it may have been a full flede controller just like the wii but s&it i guess not, im interested in the products but i wonder if the games are backwards complatible on ps3 and would we be able to use sixaxis vs having to use the obvious accessories they are trying to sell, if its not required im in but ive already got rid of my ps2 the day i got ps3 so it has to go backwards for me or im not paying no more attention to it
