BioShock for the PS3 Confirmed, Yet Again?

According to a config.ini log taken directly from the source of the BioShock PC demo, it appears once and for all this game is coming to PS3.

The file is located at the following filepath for the game:

Program Files/2k Game/Bioshock demo/Content/config.ini

[Console]
Console (XBox360, PS3) specific settings
StreamingDynamicFloatingLimit:
If this is a positive number, then instead of using the fixed per-level
limits, the StreamingDynamic resource will use as much memory as is
available as long as the total memory allocated by the game is less than
the specified number. In other words, StreamingDynamic will grow and
shrink to fit to the available memory instead of being locked to a fixed
budget StreamingDynamicFloatingLimit=500

Clearly 2K Games would be in serious fog if they were to pull out a "no comment" card here, or a typical "this was a mistake," because clearly, all the evidence points to BioShock hitting the PlayStation 3 console in the Spring of 2008, perhaps even sooner.

Keep your eyes on PSU for more BioShock on the PlayStation 3 information. We think you'll be seeing it soon enough.

I personally couldn't care less whether this comes to PS3 but just to reaffirm why we are confident in this - the PS3 Version was subtly hinted to us to be in the works by a senior programmer back at GDC 07. Since then we have had numerous industry figures add validity to this rumor. The game was originally multi platform, and Kevine Levine, when asked did not quash the possibility.  From where we stand we are confident the game is in development for PS3 and the usual word games are going on, meaning they will announce it when they are ready to announce it and it probably won't be announced for a quite a while – to allow the 360 to get the “exclusivity period” they paid for.  That's all I know. I'm not fussed if I'm wrong, but that's they way things look from where I'm standing.

Thanks for the update, Morpheus.  This should shut up some 360 fanboys.  BTW I'm playing System Shock 2 right now.  Great game, even for a 1999 title.

thats weird, but cool if it's coming to PS3 just please don't turn this into another MGS4 thing with fanboys flinging feaces at each other.

I wonder if this notation is automatically generated by the unreal engine - as opposed to the Dev team. That would kill all credibility of this rumor unfortunately. If it is true however (and sooner or later it will be) I expect a better version than on 360. Yeah!

Well we need something to play with warhawk and lair sucking so hard.  Just a shame it won't be for a while.  I'd rather have Ninja Gaiden 2 over BioShock any day though I hear thats only a timed exclusive to combat the poor sales it would get in Japan on 360.

Ive always wanted Bioshock on the PS3. As anyone can see it got very high ratings and i want to play it! even though its only on 360. dam 360. This will be a smart move for Take Two financially. They would make alot of money from PS3 owners. Also maybe since Rockstar is partering with Sony for a Ps3 exclusive. Maybe Rockstars good friends ( TAKE TWO ) are going to give some love to Sony and let Bioshock go multiplat.

Ppl,it was initially a multi-plat title,so do you think they are going to let all that hard work for the ps3 version go to waste.M$ probably made a deal like keeping it timed-exclusive and dropped the $$$ for 2k to not specify that it will indeed be coming to ps3.

Bioshock lead designer Ken Levine has dismissed rumors of Bioshock being released on the PS3 by promising that there is no secret PS3 development going on behind the scenes and the team is in an exclusive deal with Microsoft and Xbox 360 regarding Bioshock.

    quote:

Then there is the lingering question of the rumored PS3 version of BioShock found in the PC code. Levine responds quite clearly, "I promise you, there is no secret plan about the PS3 that we're keeping from people. There's no PS3 development going on that we're hiding. There's lots of stuff that gets into game code, plans change over time and we got an exclusive deal with Microsoft ... that's not a Rosetta Stone discovery."
