Konami: Metal Gear Solid 4 to release in Winter 07

According to Konami's official website, Metal Gear Solid 4 will be released in Winter this year.

This of course goes against what Kojima Productions stated earlier this year when they announced that the game was delayed till early 2008. Perhaps they will announce something in their keynote during the Tokyo Game Show.

Currently Konami is showing Metal Gear Solid 4 both in playable form and in trailers at TGS. You can check out the latest trailer here.

Stay tuned to PSU for further information on the release date.

Update:

The Kojima Productions area of the Konami website still lists the title as Early 08.

If Konami is putting pressure on Kojima to release it this year, then I'd much rather prefer an early 2008 release.  I want Kojima to take the time he needs; if he says it will be ready by first quarter 2008, it will be ready by then.  The last thing MGS4 needs is to be rushed.  We all know what happens to games that rush to get an earlier release.

maybe there ahead of schedual than they had previously thought? i dont think they'd release a game like this early if they didnt have time to fix the bugs and whatnot! i cant wait to play it!

Dont get too excited chaps otherwise you'll set yourself up to be dissapointed come Christmas time. Most dates for PS3 titles slip so put in your mind an early to mid 2008 release and if it lands early - bonus!

There is a lot riding on MGS being absolutely positively Phukking increadible - anything short would be a potential disaster for PS3 sales. Take the time and get it right.... Meanwhile there is still time for Sony to whip out the chequebook and offer bonus incentives to some of the other less critical developers to finish their titles in time for Christmas delivery. We need games thats for sure.

Punisher99... Fiscal Winter for Video Game companies is October-December.  So if the Konami website is correct, it should release on or before November 20th for the Holiday shopping season.

ok I have to admit Im not a huge MGS fan, I liked the past ones dont get me wrong, but Im just not fanatic about MGS.  And to be honest everything I've seen so far just looks "weird" I normally like wierd but its almost "cheesy" it all seems a bit "off", I guess thats typical of the Japs though...anyone else feeling this way??

Um, maybe it means Fiscal year 07?  If their FY spills into 2008 that is.  Then it'd still be winter 07 AND early 08 calander.  It's a stretch...

I'm with DaSaint on this one fellas, I wouldn't rush such a thing.  The last thing anyone wants is to be let down by what is already a pinacle in and of itself, we all want to enjoy it and rushing it just to get it out the door is as bad as any game company can get. I mean...look at microsoft! HAHAHA
