Sony denies development of PlayStation Phone

There has been much speculation in regards to the possibility of Sony creating a “PlayStation Phone”. This comes off the heels of an article that was published in Economic Times of India where Jim Ryan, SCE Co-Chief Operating Officer made a statement that gave hint of a possible le project in the future.

"The PlayStation is a proven success and so is Sony Ericsson. Convergence with the two arms working together is definitely plausible."

This statement seemingly hints that we could be seeing a PS Phone sometime in the future, with hopes of the revelation coming at the 2008 CES in January. Now however, this claim is debunked as a company spokesperson denies a possible PlayStation/Ericsson collaboration.

"Jim Ryan was in fact misquoted by the Economic Times of India about this issue. We are not currently working together on the creation of a PlayStation Phone."

So there you have it. Currently the two brands aren’t coming together anytime soon, but Sony has not denied that they may do so in the future. Who knows, hopefully more light will be shed on this in the future and once it does, PSU will be sure to give you the full scoop.
