Sony Corporation Chairman Sir Howard Stringer has said that he is confident in the increased drive of PlayStation 3 sales, declaring that the company’s next-generation console is firmly “out of the woods.”
Speaking to Reuters at the recent World Economic Forum, Stringer stated, "PS3 has now gone past Xbox on the Christmas market. It's moving into its own as it gets into higher bandwidth ... PS3 is out of the woods and beginning to hold its own.”
Despite this, he noted that the firm is keeping a close eye on the Japanese Yen, adding, “There is always an impact on exports. The yen is volatile ... We watch it with some anxiety.”
Stringer attributed these concerns to a weakened yen, which last week dropped 1.4 per cent against the EURO and 0.8 per cent against the dollar, according to reports from Bloomberg.
