Devil May Cry 4 has debuted at the top of the UK All Format Chart following its release last Friday, making it the first instalment in the highly successful action series to do so.

The game’s entry pushes former number one, Burnout Paradise, down to four this week.

According to sales numbers, the PlayStation 3 version of the game accounted for approximately 39 per cent of all sales, while the Xbox 360 release takes 61 per cent. However, these numbers are more impressive considering the fact the PS3 version retails for GBP 10 higher than it’s Microsoft counterpart in the region.

Here is 360 land too. Give it half a year and the tables would be turned.

Why on earth was the PS3 version a tenner more? Is it because the 360 version is produced on a bog standard DVD? Played the demo and found this game very linear, and basicly boaring, it looked good but all you end up doing is thrashing the same old buttons to whip everything in sight, just goes to show what a bit of hype can do before a games launch.

Not bad. Not when you think that the 360 has a higher installed base in the UK, and that the PS3 version is 10 quid more expensive.

psn id: gingo... it is a disgrace that the 360 version is cheaper and if u walk into any gamestation or game store you will always see the ps3 version with a higher price tag... thats why i use a local gamestore that aren't run by a bunch of pricks and who have the same price for all versions

I didn't buy this game just like the petition I signed said I wasn't going to. The demo was very underwhelming, and if others stuck to their not buying it as well this could be a reason why it has sold so many less. It's just too bad so many people are actually buying the game.

well £10 cheaper is capcom all over nowadays they are backstabbing (can't repeat words). still quite impressive seeing as there are less ps3 owners than 360 owners here too. Also it seems pretty much identical, gameplay wise, too the others in teh series. It may be a good game but u can have too much of a good thing.

This pisses me off that it sells better on 360. No matter, Worldwide sales have PS3 version selling a heckuvalot better than the 360 thanks to Japan.

so there actually are DMC fans in the M$ camp? I'm shocked the PS3 version isn't more like 70%

Well, I haven't forgotten the petition, and I'm not buying this game. Sales could have been so much better for Capcom, but we don't all forget. Serves them right.

There are PS2 owners who desserted the PS2 for the earlier released Xbox 360. There you have your DMC fans on the microsoft camp. Most xbox 360 owners had a ps2 before and that is why we see so many buying dmc4 on the 360.

Lets not forget.....how many sweet games are coming out on the xbox 360? Plus it is true some people did jump ship to buy an xbox 360 after owning a ps2. Proof?? Ace Combat. How else would that sell on the 360? Did I fail to mention that Capcom sucks?? Why would a ps3 version cost more?? oh, thats right, to screw all the loyal fan base of playstation.....Again!!

Thats pretty bad that the sales for VG in the UK has a 10+ on ps3 games. >_> I am not surprised it ended up like this and no its not an impressive number, not by a long shot.

wasn't impressed by demo, that and the fact that "Capcom sucks!!!!!"

This is terrible news. DMC is traditionaly a Playstation title... 61% of sales going to xbox 360 is a big loud message to publishers to focus on Xbox and skip PS3.
