According to Internet reports, SEGA has registered the name ‘Sonic Unleashed’, stating that it applies to “video game software [and] computer game programs."
Details regarding this filing remain unknown at this point, although it is highly likely that it will result in a new Sonic title, possibly for next-generation consoles.
Fans of the series may be slightly underwhelmed at this notion, given the fact the spiky hedgehog’s first instalment on PlayStation 3/Xbox 360, 2006's eponymous Sonic the Hedgehog, was a critical and commercial failure.
Regardless, stay tuned to PSU for more information on a possible new instalment in the series as it breaks.

new sonic and mario games suck. they should release megadrive and snes games on the PSN store. a quid a pop. i'd love to play the old mario and sonic games, and wireless 4 player split screen on mariokart. either that or make a decent crash bandicoot game, they haven't had one since crash team racing
