Square talks Final Fantasy VII remake

Final Fantasy VII Director Yoshinori Kitase recently touched on the possibility of remaking the RPG classic for the PlayStation 3, stating that fans could “expect the probability of something spontaneous happening at some point.”
Kitase commented that if a remake were to transpire, it would have to include all of the core team members from the original 1997 PlayStation classic; something which isn’t possible right now due each individual’s commitments to other projects.
"My feelings are that if a remake were to work well then all the core members of the original team must be reassembled, all the artists and designers,” said Kitase.
“The problem is that, although all of us have an idea of what a remake should be and how to do it, organising such a thing right now is logistically very difficult. All the different members are now involved in very new, very large projects like Final Fantasy XIII and those projects are going to take a while.”
Despite this, he refused to completely rule out the chances of a remake on PS3, adding, “Maybe, when all those games are finished then we can look at doing something like that.”
”Of course, that said we came up with the idea for Crisis Core in just two days. It was a case of 'this is what we want to do, so let's do it'. So, you can definitely expect the probability of something spontaneous happening at some point, but it's hard to predict."
Stay tuned for further developments as they break.

I would love a FFVII remake, but I am really looking forward to XIII and Versus. Something fresh and new. FFVII is great!! Don't get me wrong about that. For now though I'll just play the original. We know an FFVII remake is coming...someday. If not, then SE are the CRUELEST people ever for creating that Tech Demo. I was so excited when I seen that.

^ I agree. If it were to be remade EVERYTHING should stay the same. The battle system, materia system, everything. If they added / removed plots / storylines it just wouldn't have the same feel to it. As for the battle system, remember when rumours were flying round saying that FFVII remake would have an FFXII style battle system? That would totally RUIN it. Wouldn't work at all.

It's funny how times put thing into prespective; it doesn't matter how old you are, if you played Final Fantasy VII when it was first released. you would have played it more then a decade ago! ******
The 1st FF game I played was Final Fantasy VIII - Personally I'm more fond of that then Final Fantasy VII.

My girlfriend has "blackmage" in Japanese tattoo up her spine. This is her favorite game of all time. I'd never be able to play my PS3 again if they remake this game! LOL.

look with ff13 and versus will BE HUGE FOR THE Ps3 this remake is like a trump card for sony if sony actually pressures Square to do it they win the console war cuz more people will want to buy it heck even make ff7 online multiplayer give it the same fighting system than crisis core but with all 3 characters fighting in the battle and you just switch and while you control one the rest fight on their own like gambits but much more advanced. Then give it out as a bundle. Then Sony wins the console war we are already coming up and winning but this would only just throw the damn 360 in a cellar and put a key to it.
DO IT

Honestly, this goes beyond saying "this is old news". It's only been recited on the internet a thousand different times and places. It doesn't need to be said yet again. I have indeed played Final Fantasy VII, and I do love it. They would just have to make everything perfect or it would be wrecked. It would have to have all the exact same music, note for note, every instrument. If they could use a symphony it would be amazing, but if Uematsu wasn't doing all of it I wouldn't bother. I would probably prefer a fixed camera so it would be similar to the original, as that was the way it was. There are so many things they would have to do to make a remake of the most famous and amazing gaming ever produced, and if even one thing wasn't as perfect as it originally was it would be a lot of wasted time.

You could almost tell by my screen name, that I work for UPS. I'm in management, and as some may know, it's a fortune 500 company.
I'm telling you from a business standpoint, Sony, Square Enix, and the public (World), CAN NOT GO WRONG WITH THIS!!!
Make the flipping game already, while the PS3 is still high priced. I just don't get it. Do you know what type of cash crop that game would be for everyone involved. This is a NO-BRAINER!!!!!!

Seriously speaking.....forget FF7, I would much rather see a remake of FF8 or Xeno Gears. Any true hardcore RPG gamer knows that whiles being a great RPG (especially for its time), you take away 3 things...Sephiroth, Omni-slash and Knights of the Round materia...FF7 ain't sh!t. Truth be told, Squall > Cloud and ID > Sephiroth...yes, it may be my opinion, but it has strong common ground that makes it as close to fact as possible. Don't get me wrong...I will support and buy a FF7 remake if it were to come out, but jees.....is hype everything? I rather a better game vs a great name any day of the week.

If Square did this, I would love them for ever and ever!!!!! Still, from this post, it'll probably be done only after FFXIII is released, or at least finished in production. But it's going to be hard to get Nourma since he's working on the new Kingdom Hearts games too and I believe he's a "core member" too.

SQUARE will do it, but it'll just take time as XIII is a very big game with tones of music, characters, weapons and all that and they've got most of the masterminds behind VII working on it so XIII will be brilliant and VII remake will take time, look at about 2 years i would say then they might begin work on VII.
