Hideo Kojima to unveil new game at next TGS

The illustrious Hideo Kojima has told Famitsu (translated by Kotaku) that he may unveil his latest game at next year’s Tokyo Game Show.

"Until the end of this year, I have my hands full with Metal Gear Online," Kojima said. "But at next year's show, I think it's okay that I should be able to announce something." The old tease.

The Metal Gear Solid creator also commented at length on the state of Japanese development versus the west. He suggested that the western approach of bringing together and funding a number of high-profile, highly talented creators is something Japan could learn from.

"If you honestly compare Japanese games with Western ones, Japan has lost," Kojima concluded. Music to Microsoft's ears, no doubt.

As much as it hurts me to say it,he's right,if japanese devs like SE and Capcom keep developing games like they are now,Japan has indeed lost.See,the thing is now we are starting to see japanese developers trying to appeal to the western market, which hurts the thing that made japanese games so great, their originality, but all is not lost however,i mean, look at Sega and Yakuza 3,SCEJ and Patapon,Tecmo and Quantum Theory(the teaser was AWESOME).As long as they stay true to their heritage japanese games will ALWAYS be better.

@2 So right.  When you have to appeal to the masses for money, you stop being innovative because you don't have to be.  That's not just for video games.  That applies to music, movies, etc.  Beverly Hills Chihuahua is the number one movie in the U.S. right now two weeks running.  People still tune in to watch American Idol every year.   Westerners are really easy to please because they are dumb.

I'm thinking it will be his completely new game that no one but him knows about.  ZOE3 would be tight, but I'm feeling that he's going to go to something brand spanking new to show the world what a true japanese developer can do so that way "Japan has lost" will turn into "Japan (also read "Kojima") has won.

it's probably MGS 5  or it's going to be the remake of Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2: solid snake. kojima never really explained that in the game. i would like a remake of that into one game some how. this will be awesome to see  another Metal gear game next year.   even the movie will be nice if it does come out too.    i will definetly pre-order it in full pay.  i hope he does work on MGO and fix that thing. i want to play online at a gamestore i go to.    it's not cool when you can't sign in but, when you can sign into cod 4 in like a second.

Some of u are correct, it will be that all new IP he was talking about a month or so ago, he said something along the lines of he didnt know whether or not people would like his idea, but I'm guessing the man underestimated his brilliance and got some good feedback. If MGS5 goes multi, it will be far enough off to fit on the Crapbox 720, but people will still never forget that he stuck with Sony through this current debacle exclusive-wise. Whatever the case, 3rd party exclusives aren't dead, thats just a rumor bouncing around because M$ buys them all. We actually have plenty of them coming this gen. We shall then see where loyalties lie.
