Namco Bandai announced today that Soul Calibur IV has sold approximately 2.2 million units worldwide since its launch last summer.
Available on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, the game shipped with exclusive content for each format in the form of Star Wars characters Darth Vader and Jedi Master Yoda. Interestingly, the critically acclaimed brawler reportedly shipped a total of 2 million copies a mere one week after its release on July 31, 2008.
Namco posted a total profit of $99.7 million USD for its third quarter ending December 31, with much of its 2008 success attributed to Soul Calibur IV and Dragon Ball Z Burst Limit.

That's really low for a known franchise that's muliplat.People were saying that LBP sales were low,but as an exclusive it sold more than SC4.Just goes to show you that muliplat does not always equal more sales.

DarkNemesis has a point.
5 months to sell 2 mil across 2 platforms? And this is worldwide. DMC4 sold 2 mil in half the time. MGS4 sold 1 mil in a week. And LBP, the game everyone says is a flop, is closing in on 2 mil and has only been out half the time.
I think fighting games are stalling faster than jrps.

I lost interest in SC after the Dreamcast release....which was the last one I bought. I have played IV, but I was not impressed. I think the Star Wars thing pushed me away even more, but hey that's the future of gaming.....crap sells so why make a good product. I look at how much more Carnival Games sold for the Wii compared to No More Heroes or Metroid and I cry.
