French publisher Ubisoft has announced a change in the development team behind its upcoming disaster romp, I Am Alive. Initially headed by independent studio Darkworks, the game is now being moved to Ubisoft's Shanghai establishment.

According to Ubisoft, the decision was made "In order to respect the new launch date for this ambitious title, and Darkworks having other obligations, we have mutually decided to complete development of I Am Alive at Ubisoft Shanghai, as the two studios have collaborated on aspects of the title over the past year."

"The team at Darkworks has respected its contractual obligations on the project and will be a part of the success of the game when it launches,” the company added.

Ubisoft’s Shanghai studio is best known for its work on the EndWar, Ghost Recon and Splinter Cell franchises. Needless to say, this should ramp up overall expectations for I Am Alive. The title still retains its fiscal 2010 release window alongside three other titles currently in development with the firm.
