Kitase: Xbox 360 FFXIII will not compromise PS3 version

Square Enix’s Yoshinori Kitase has reiterated that the developer is committed to offering gamers an ‘equal experience’ for both the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions of Final Fantasy XIII.
Kitase’s comments come following news that the 360 version of the eagerly anticipated RPG hadn’t entered development until after the PS3 FFXIII demo hit Japanese stores in April.
“The team is targeting to create an equal experience on both the 360 and the PS3, so there are no limitations. For example, right now we’re working on the PS3 version first, and once we’ve completed that we’ll really know how much game there will be to fit onto the Xbox 360 discs,” he told VideoGamer.com.
“So we don’t know how many discs it’ll be housed on for 360, but there won’t be a chance that we’ll compromise anything because, oh it didn’t fit in the 360 discs so we’ll have to take it out of the PS3 version, or vice versa.”
Final Fantasy XIII is due out in Japan later this year, with a North American release arriving in 2010.

If the graphics were dumbed down for the 360 version I don't see much of an issue about that b/c they still wow me. This looks like it will be a great game and I will get it for my PS3.

I am w/ #12 on this because as a programmer and trying to work on my own stuff, I know that SE are lying but not bout the disc situation cause yeah I am sure they will get everything on the BD and DVDs but the quality and other stuff in the game isnt gonna be TOP and BEST of PS3 cause if your making it for one system first then you have to go back and port then thats 2x as muxh work so they aren't gonna fully make it for the PS3 even if it has been worked on for so long as a PS3 exclusive at first but just cause that announcement was made while back doesn't mean that wasn't in work even further back and just wasn't official. So I am sure that the game is comprised quality wise cause they don't wanna have to do A LOT of reworking on the port to get it to work on the 360 and if they did, it wouldn't be ready spring 2010 like their saying itd be more like winter 2010. Regardless I still plan to buy it cause I care bout games being bought for the PS3. Juts hope Sony is smart enough to deal w/ a potential FF7 remake and ensure its exclusivity to Sony and if not might as well say good bye to top console this gen.

all you ppl are pissed off at square enix, b/c they werent being loyal to playstation and went multiplatform? u all should be mad at sony for not offering this company money to be exclusive. Thats what it takes these days. And thats what micogay did. They threw out a bone to let the dog's catch it. Game company's are out to not be FANBOYS but MAKE MONEY. THINK ABOUT IT.

I don't believe a word he says regarding this multiplatform title.
How can they say they will not compromise anything but they may have to take something out of the PS3 version if they can't fit it onto 360 discs?
Also if this game is only 3 discs on the 360 version then I will be disapointed. Lost Odyssey was 4 discs and it is only around 40 or 50 hours long.

My only gripe about this whole ordeal of FFXIII being multiplat is the fact that the PS3 version will have to wait for the 360 version in NA.......why didn't the 360 version of Last Remnant have to wait on the PS3 version? ....and on that note, where [in da F!] is the PS3 version of LR you lying rat bastards?

typed a nice big point but managed to accidentally press L1 instead of clicking post so i'll summarise as much as possible. stop complaining about multiplat no one wants to have to change discs every time that's why FFXIII will be better and sell more on PS3 versus XIII and FFXIV are PS3 exclusive so why complain fans of final fantasy are used to PlayStation and would choose PS3 especially since it's getting versus XIII and FFXIV. Most XBOX 360s will probably get RRoD before you even get to the second disc. SE isn't lying when they say PS3 version won't be compromised in fact they're reassuring you it's going to be better on PS3 by not taking things from it because they can't fit on a DVD hopefully that will mean they have to use 10 discs rather than 9 for 360 just for the last 5 minutes of the game

^ To the one above me: are you lost?
Who in h3ll told SE that I want the same experience? I want to be able to experience as much as the hardware allows. Besides, No turn-based battles = fail. Bring on Persona PS3, Atelier Rorona, Disgaea, Legend of Dragoon 2, etc.

Well, I know this is a bad analogy , but would you believe someone if they said "we are making a game for the wii and the ps3 and promise they will be equal in quality.? The reality is that all the game play, cgi, and screenshots I have seen for ffxIII have been mediocre in quality. the xbot fans love it cuz thats about as good as it gets on the 360, but most ps3 fan are used to seeing much better, We should get naughty dawg or insomniac to make an RPG, they could put square out fo business.

And that actual Final Fantasy fans are embarrased by your inane fanboy 12 year old logic.

If the story is anything like FFVII or FFX then it will be a hit! I'm just glad that FF Versus XIII is still a PS3 exclusive, to me it looks a lot better (action wise) than FFXIII from the trailers even, though I havent seen any gameplay. But since is the same guy that made FFVII and FFX I know it will be an instant classic. I'm just glad that the PS3 version will not be harmed by the 360..
