Crytek UK doesn't rule out doing TimeSplitters 4

Crytek UK, formally known as developer Free Radical, has said that the firm would be prepared to tackle a fourth instalment in the popular TimeSplitters franchise, though noted there are no such plans to do so.
Speaking to Develop – which pointed out that the developer would find it tough dispel speculation that the company might be working on a new TimeSplitters game, Crytek UK managing director Karl Hilton said:
“Going forward, we’ve always made it very clear that we want to build original games and we’re going to do that, and we are concepting some of that up at the moment.”
“It’s early days, but there’s some really exciting stuff that we’re concepting. When we’re ready we’ll talk to publishers, and hopefully publishers will like it, and we’ll own and produce those games in our own studio.”
At present, however, the firm is currently focused on developing FPS sequel, Crysis 2, which Hilton described as a “major AAA game that we are delighted to be working on. It is a dream project.”
Quizzed as to whether or not a series such as TimeSplitters would fit in alongside the likes of the ultra realistic Crysis, Hilton replied: “Going forward with future projects, it will be up to us to talk to publishers about what they want, be it the old TimeSplitters or Team Fortress route of slightly stylized or comic characters, or whether they want hyper-realistic games.”
He added that the fate of TimeSplitters would ultimately be decided by whether or not there was still a demand for the comical shooter: “Like with all businesses, content is dictated by the desires of the market,” he said.
“These days the mass-market shooters tend to be aimed at the hyper-realistic stuff. If developers had free reign with the CryEngine, they would easily be able to produce really bizarre, wacky wonderful stuff.”
“We have artists who can make super-realistic games but we also have a team that has experience making completely bizarre stuff too."
“If the time comes, if there is a demand for that type of game, I’m confident we’d be ready for it.”

@3 I dont care about the graphics, as long as it has a TONNE of maps, ALL the gamemodes of TS2 and TS3 combined and at least 150 characters then im happy, it has a lot to live up to if its going to be as good as TS2 and future perfect

I liked TS2 and TS3, but I still find myself playing the original TS every once in a while. In fact I just played it this week. I remember that TS4 was announced before Free Radical became Crytek UK. Hopefully, they do get back to doing a TS game in the near future.

There is a demand, I demand it!
TS is such a change of pace from all the stale, reproduced, "hyper-realistic" shooters that come out all the time.

timesplitters future perfect was absolute genius. all that could be customized made the game how u wanted to play. if was extremely user friendly with the awesome mapmaker capability. all my friends and i dedicated about almost every weekend to the online capability to this game and not once did it get old. if crytek could expand on future perfect but keep to the original basis of the game.....multiplayer....the possiblities are endless.

“These days the mass-market shooters tend to be aimed at the hyper-realistic stuff."
No they are not. They are just aimed at some semblance of realism yet always have the same non-realistic run & gun, noobi-nonsense gameplay.
Reaslistic visuals with the gameplay of Timesplitters.¬ ¬.
I like Timesplitters for what it is...in fact it was one of my fav's for pure fun. But realistic visuals without matching gameplay is just boring and shallow.
At least Crysis went some way to decent realism, even if it was si-fi ( character movements environmental interactivity etc)

Timesplitters 2 was the peak in my opinion. A game im still very fond of. TS3 seemed to lack something. Seemed a bit stale and less polished to me.

If Crytek own the rights they should release TS2 as a PSN / Live game and watch just how darn popular this game is. I'd buy TS4 no matter what. I've loved every single one, I'd just hope they'd be able to get some of the original team back... but I doubt it. The potential market for TS4 has got to be massive, I don't know anyone who didn't love TS2, not so much TS3, but even that was quite good.
