Silent Hill: Shattered Memories hitting Europe early next year

Konami has offered clarification surrounding the European launch of horror title Silent Hill: Shattered Memories, confirming the game won’t be out in PAL territories until February 2010.

The game – a revamp of the original 1999 psychological horror outing – was originally believed to hit stores this side of Christmas alongside its U.S. counterpart, though this has now been firmly ruled out by the publisher.

Shattered Memories pits players in control of troubled father Harry Mason as he attempts to locate his missing daughter from the blackened, icy streets of Silent Hill. As ever, Mason will be stalked by all manner of grotesque beasts, though this time around, the creator’s opted to ditch combat entirely in favour of evasion, requiring players to hot tail it away from their pursuers at all costs. Expect plenty of plot deviations in comparison to the original PSone classic and heaps of new puzzles to solve.

Silent Hill: Shattered Memories is due out on PSP, PS2 and Wii.

The first one was a tremendous adult and artistic effort.

If only they had adapted it directly for the film rather than ramming in the maternity themes.

Gameplay wise perpetual evasion might get a bit dull though, if memory serves even armed for bear there was an f-load of a lot evasion already.

I dont see why UK should get shafted though, we're illegally invading foreign countries with the Americans how about some of the same perks?

I think the Silent Hill games are the scariest on the market, but that is partly because the combat systems have been so awful. Like on 2 when trying to run away from pyramid head to pull off a shot it was usually hit or miss regardless of skill or time spent playing. Yep most handle like a shopping cart with a stuck wheel.
