It is officially the holiday season and Sony has already seen a strong performance in these first few holiday shopping days. According to a statement released this evening, Sony sold more than 440,000 PlayStation 3s last week.
"The 2009 holiday season got off to an amazing start for PlayStation, with all key retailers showing a significant increase for PS3, PSP and key holiday titles over Black Friday and the holiday weekend,” said Patrick Seybold, Sr. Director of Corporate Communications and Social Media. “PlayStation 3 demand was at an all time high with the system selling more than 440,000 units for the week ending 11/29/09.
He went on to state: “In today's economy, consumers are drawn to items that offer the most value for their money, making the PS3 an ideal choice for those who want a comprehensive gaming and entertainment system all in one package. Combine that with exclusive holiday bundles and an extensive software line-up, one that many analysts are calling the best in the industry, with titles such as Ratchet and Clank Future: A Crack in Time, UNCHARTED 2: Among Thieves, and LittleBigPlanet: Game of the Year, we have no doubt the momentum and demand will continue and consumers will prove that entertainment this holiday season is going to be defined by PlayStation."
With the recent price drop in the PS3, and several hit exclusives, Sony appears in line for a very strong holiday.

The PS3 and XBOX 360 are NOT competing with the Wii. The Wii is not a next gen system. It is last gen with next gen controls. So, cheap last gen crap is still crap.

...That's pretty awesome. Good to see the PS3 FINALLY getting some recognition. People are starting to bite the bullet and buy one. Obviously aided by the price drops Sony have been giving it. Then the fact that the PS3 is the better system (Games are reasonably equal about now, 2010 will change that though), it seems like the logical decision.

I don't think anyone can flaw Sony on there stratergy. Constant updates stops piracy (more profit), rock solid exclusives(even more profit) and producing the best entertainment hub(profit for all).
I know 4 people that bought a PS3 last week and 2 the week before.
