An early demo of Dante’s Inferno is headed to the PlayStation 3 in the U.S. today, weeks before the Xbox 360 version. European games will get the demo on December 24 on both systems.

Showing more love for the PS3, Visceral Games announced today the ‘Divine Edition’ of Dante’s Inferno, exclusively for the PS3. The Divine Edition includes the game’s soundtrack, developer commentaries, a digital art book from Wayne Barlowe, and the complete Longfellow translation of Dante Alighieri’s Inferno.

"We are thrilled to offer an exclusive game pack for PlayStation 3 gamers,” said Jonathan Knight, Executive Producer for Dante’s Inferno. “The PlayStation platform has a long history of delivering AAA action/adventure games. Adding Dante’s Inferno to that rich catalogue is very exciting for the team. And with the demo now available on the PlayStation Network, players can finally get a taste of what awaits them in the full game on Feb 9th.”

Perhaps the best part of today’s announcement is the fact that the Divine Edition will retail for $59.99 USD. You do not need to worry about changing your preorders as the Divine Edition is the version all PS3 owners are getting when the game is released on Feb. 9, 2010.

Don’t forget to hit up the PlayStation Store later to download your free demo of Dante’s Inferno.

I think they are giving the extra attention to the PS3 version to draw people away from GOW III

wow...Their smart. I think I see what their doing. Their trying to win us (Playstation users) over. They know that we think it is a complete god of war rip off so they bribe us with exclusive content.

@4 Yeah I agree, on 360 there is no game similar to it so it will be easier to sell, on PS3 the game that they ripped off is going to be released a month later and they are trying to steal sales... lol they are going to be sadly mistaken as God of War is probably Sony's second biggest IP right now behind Gran Toursimo, and Sony has some very big IP's(more than Ninty and MS combined)

My thoughts as well.  I think they believe the 360 fanbase will be quicker to accept them because there is no GOW on 360. But they want to try and win us PS users over with some bonuses so we don't immediately avoid the game because its not GOW.  I actually think this game will turn out fairly decent, waiting on reviews though before I make any decisions.

Thats exactly what it is. Its all a mind game. Alot of PS users is already thinking "wow, they really care about us" but all EA is trying to do is gain some steam so it can be the title to play since god of war isn't here yet. I hope this game sucks because I personally think it COMPLETELY rip off GOW. If you pay close attentio, there is absolutly no sense of originality. They even replicated krotos jump animation. He jumps the exact way kratos does. Im not hating on the game...I hate the fact that they stole someone elses hard work

Now this pleases me..... this is more or less a first for the PS3. Exclusive add ons man. I  will pick it up and see how this plays. Period. Now GOW 3 is a given, but this has perked my interest.

What do you mean finally some good news for ps3?. The good news has been coming in non stop on the games front for the last 2 years. And on a console sales front for the last few months.

so games will get a demo, not gamers ? :P

Hold on, am I reading this wrong, or is the early demo only available for the US? As far as I was aware, the demo was intended to reach the PlayStation community first, universally. Now I'm finding out the demo is only available in America, and us European gamers will have to wait for the 360 release date to get the demo.

Of course, I could be interpreting this wrong, but if what I'm being told is true, I will forever hate Visceral Games.

I actually prefer the first boxart version better. Nothing is obscured or blocked out. Although I partially admire the extra attention PS3 owners are getting from EA, I'm at odds for their reason of doing so. It's so painfully obvious, I wonder if they seriously think they're successfully pulling a fast one here?

Don't get me wrong. I'm genuinely interested in this game and will give it a fair shot (I'm tired of hating EA, especially now that Activision has made some pretty disparaging PS3 statements). Just don't insult my intelligence by trying to get me to forget about or "redirect" my attention from GoW. That will never happen. My advice: Just make your game good, don't treat me like a $, and it will reside on the shelf alongside Kratos. Now - bring on the demo.
