Modern Warfare 2 draws in $1 billion

Activision has sold an astonishing number of its hit shooter Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. The company announced today that the game continues to set sell-through records crossing the $1 billion USD mark in retail sales worldwide since its launch in November. These figures are according to Activision estimates.
Infinity Ward’s MW2 sold an estimated $550 million worldwide in its first five days alone, outpacing five-day worldwide Hollywood box office gross figures for films like Avatar, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, and The Dark Knight.
“Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 has exceeded our expectations and shattered theatrical box office and video game records,” said Robert Kotick, CEO of Activision Blizzard. “There are only a handful of entertainment properties that have ever reached the $1 billion mark, which illustrates the power of the Call of Duty franchise and mass appeal of this game.”

No you are not the only one, i do like the game too, but cmon its not the best shooter of all times... it doesnt have the greatest story of all times, not even the best graphics..everythying is good about the game..but its not just 1 billion dollar great

it really is a great game for online fun. what more do you want out of game desinged for online? and coop. the campaing is only so you can get used to the controlls anyways if you have not played too many shooters. no one buys this game for the campaign LOL. again thats what sells these days is online games. hence why MAG is coming out. ONLINE games sell so redicules these days.

you said it, online, and mag it does offer something kinda new to console gamers. massive amount of players, cod doesnt even offer anything new. everything cod:mw2 does it has been done before, and it doesnt even make it better than some other games out there right now. thats why that much money is just plain ridiculous.
and shows that "gamers" dont buy the game they buy the ads, which is not wrong, i mean thats what ads are for right? but worse! they get convinced that there are no other games like or better than cod.
