Konami has lifted the curtains on its plans for a European six-on-six Metal Gear Online tournament.
Kicking off on February 26, those who are interest will have to pass a preliminary round, which sees teams of six players submit a squad for the tournament. Make it past this stage and you’ll bag a place in the main event.
The team that ultimately triumphs in the overall competition will bag themselves a Metal Gear Solid 4 Edition Astro Audio systems. Meanwhile, runner-ups will receive Astro Gaming Backpack Scots, and the team in third place wins a Mission Astro Gaming Bag. Lastly, MGO points will be distributed to all entrants to spend at the in-game shop.
Fancy your chances? If so, you can sign up here. Meanwhile, feel free to pop over to our review of Metal Gear Online here.

@Hoot471:
This isn't exactly the first time an MGO tournament has held. In fact there was a championship tournament held back in 2008 for four main regions (Asia, Europe, Japan and NA). I guess it must've been more popular in Europe hence giving them regional tournament.

Yes I know there was one back in 2008. The reason I'm "shocked" is that Konami never seem to give us anything else. The store is only updated with two things a week (I remember when it was actually one thing a week), they never seem to sort out the glitchers/"lag switches", they put Oceania players with Europeans (Which seems like common sense since we speak English but not with Internet connections.)

@Hoot471:
That's true, this is held by Konami and not Sony themselves. From that point of view, it is quite a surprise. But at least Sony/PD show a bit of love with the GT5 Trial Challenge earlier last month.
And those delayed PSN store updates and patch delays feels like we're last on the list of priorities (PAL territory). Although, at least we've been shown some love by offering PAL territories some "exclusive editions" of game bundles such as the Heavy Rain and FFXIII CE not officially available for any other region but PAL. That's cool and all, but I'd rather be treated equal as both consumer and gamers for showing our loyalty to Sony and the developers.
Perhaps one day Sony will actually consider gamers as a family and not just segregated regions!?!

Are there actually many people still playing the game? :S
Or is this an attempt to boost player numbers? Tbh, I didn't play MGO much...the perk system annoyed me and the gameplay devolved into pathetic run & gun in many cases. Not something I expected from MGO, but I guess if you provide the ability to do so, it will be abused.
Im happy for those that are interested in the Tournament & still interested in MGO...but as far as Im concerned, its meaningless.
