UK ratings body the BBFC has super-glued an 18 certificate to Guerrilla Games’ Killzone 3, churning up a trickle of tidbits on the eagerly awaited shooter in the process.
For one, the listing confirms that the sci-fi sequel will pack in a meaty 70+ minutes of cut-scenes, as well as noting – rather obviously – that the game contains “strong bloody violence and strong language.”
Fortunately, the title will be available in all its gory glory come release day, with the BBFC confirming that no cuts were made.
Guerrilla previously said that it would be attempting to curb the amount of explicit language uttered in the shooter, with the firm’s Steven Ter Heide telling Eurogamer:
"Our sound director is here today and we said to him, 'Go through the entire database and, anything that's got s*** or f*** in it, just get rid of it - we don't want to hear it ever again!"
"We feel the dialogue in there shouldn't be gratuitous; it should be about advancing the story and natural responses. It shouldn't be off-the-scale swearing.”
"We've toned it down a little bit to make sure that the story comes across in the way we wanted it to come across," he continued. "That's definitely one of the points we took on board from Killzone 2."
Killzone 3 is due out exclusively on PS3 in February 2011.
