A lot of you have had a chance to check out SOCOM 4’s multiplayer through beta, but now it’s time to see what the single-player campaign is all about.
Developers have consistently said SOCOM 4 features one of the richest stories in the series’ history. The narrative focuses on a NATO commander trapped in South East Asia. His squad features a diverse cast of characters that must work together to fight a not-so-foreign force.
The game is out on April 19 exclusively for the PlayStation 3. Stay tuned at PSU for complete coverage next week, including a video review and a look at Sony’s killer Sharp Shooter.

Too bad the gameplay itself is a flop. I've been a socom fan since the first one and own all of them and this socom completely drifted to a new but bad direction. The game is no longer the same socom we used to play, it's just MAG in 3rd person. Can't believe how bad this game is shaping up to be

The beta is one of the best betas out there if not the best in terms of playability no frame rate tearing connection issues an graphics wise the game on the other hand is different from past socom tittles but it's feels like mag because zipper made it what game would people have compare it to back then hmmm? My opinion everyone expect to go into to Any game And own other players it doesn't always work like that . Most gamers always hype up Sony exclusives and they expect so much that when the game is released most people don't buy it . Gamers nowadays cannot be pleased their standards are not this gen ne t gen maybe or maybe just corrupted by cod lol no hate on cod

I am so sick and tired of seeing old Socom fans complaining about positive changes.I had Socom 1 and never played it past that entry.Socom 4 actually interests me more than any game in the series and I only hear great things about the single player. The gameplay is fine from the Beta and things need to progress. The lot of you need to quit your whinning and stop expecting the game to be exactly like the PS2 games.Maybe then you can enjoy it for what it is.This game is more realistic, more tactical and the A..I is smarter which is what Socom is about.People like you are not Socom fans, rather annoying FANBOYS who can not except change. If you don't like it you don't have to buy and.Just stop flooding every Socom post with negativity jeez.

Oh yeah. All those Positive changes like:
Dropping all the game modes and replacing it with 3 all new control points varients....
Broken mic system
Claustrophobic Camera
Guns that dont shoot straight in a TPS unless your in a FPS view
Peek a Boo cover system (which I could tolorate if you couldnt put your xhairs on someone and just instantly pop out n kill them mid animation......)
etc...etc.......
All those positive changes made to the series. How dare we Socom fans complain? The game sure is pretty tho.... o_O

Didn't realize a broken mic system wasn't bad not thing. o_O
Lack of variety in game modes not a bad thing... So now we have team death match, control points 1, control points 2 and control points 3, but don't worry. I'm sure they'll sell Breach, Demolition, Escort, Extraction, Control Points 4, Elimination and maybe even a few more to us later as DLC...... We all know that's the real reason why they were left out.
Nor does being forced to play first person view in a TPS. If I wanted to play an FPS I wouldn't buy a TPS.....
Please explain where these so called positive changes are without mentioning the gfx................ o_O
The advanced AI? I'm talking about the online portion of the game not single player. Sure, single player looks interesting, but everyone knows the bread and butter of Socom is the online and currently that is lacking. Hopefully thing will improve as time progresses. I'll be keeping my eyes on it, but for now my money will stay in my wallet. I'm not being suckered in yet again just because the box says "Socom".
