Pachter: PS3 will outsell 360 unless Microsoft issues a price cut

Sony’s PlayStation 3 has every chance of outselling Xbox 360 this holiday season unless Microsoft slashes the price of its flagship console.
That’s according to Wedbush Morgan analyst Michael Pachter, who labelled the upcoming holiday console war between both platforms a "close call."
"If Microsoft does nothing, I think PS3 will outsell Xbox 360," said Pachter, during a chat with IndustryGamers. "However, my friends at Microsoft are extremely proud, and they absolutely refuse to tolerate the possibility that the PS3 will outsell the Xbox 360. I think they have the ads printed for the Xbox 360 price cut, and will drop them on us the instant they see PS3 sales greater than 360 sales."
PS3 received a worldwide price drop at Gamescom a few weeks back, resulting in sales spiking significantly in both the U.S. and U.K.

No, it has nothing to do with a price cut. It's a matter of exclusives. Since Microsoft has F**K all under it's belt

OH HEY it's the return of MASTER OF THE OBVIOUS! SHUT UP PACTER. first off nothing you;ve ever said regarding the future has ever come to pass unless it's been so obvious that a 5 year old could have predicted it and second While sony does have great and MORE exclusives than MS the problem is one of perception, so the 360 continues to sell because people THINK it's better regardless of price. Even with Sony cutting the price there's still a 10 million system gap before they can comfortably say they're outselling the 360 and with MS suddent claiming they're not releasing a new system until Sony does rather than dropping out early to chase after nintendo there'll be no opportunity to overtake them like they would have by staying out of the premature generation hop that Nintendo is trying to force because their "current gen" (in quotes because it's just a slightly stronger gamecube) system was lacking before it came out despite selling a butt load of systems (mostly due to it's tiny price and fancy controller gimic).

@Alpha2, serious;y what gap are you talking about? The gap difference between both PS3 and Xbox360 is less than 3 million units worldwide and it's decreasing week over week.
And if you mean America only, then you can only look as far as your leg. The world consists of 6 continents and 3 regions according to Sony and you mention just one country. And believe what, this country won't make the difference this generation. It's cancelled by Europe. The rest of region 2 and Japan will soon make the PS3 tops the Xbox360. You're welcome.
